I have been an honors student for 8 1/2 years of the 10 years I have been in school. I used to make all As and a few B's until 8th grade, 3rd quarter. From there I began making Cs and I even got my first F this year in high school! The thing is, I used to care about when I made a grade that was low, and sometimes I even cry. Now it doesnt even phase me, it's like it is somewhat normal. Its close to the end of my freshman year in high school, and the most I can get is a 3.1 unweighted GPA and a 3.6 weighted GPA. Please help me, I really want to get back to the kid I used to be. It's been a year and a half of bad luck and I'm ready to make a recovery.

Sounds as if you should no longer be in honors. Attend regular classes. Ask your parents if they can arrange for you to talk with a counselor, or see one at school if your parents can't or won't arrange it.

The primary grades are easy and it can lull you into thinking it is going to be easy in high school.

Just study and practice the subjects with review of the days topics. Make little quizzes that you can practice with, your grades will come up if you really want them too.

It sounds like you want the better grades and with a honest effort they will.

Bad luck? Really? You and I both know how important this is. I would advise you to start taking it seriously. Make your grades your top priority. You need to recapture your well-founded fear that you might blow your chance at getting into college and end up working in McDonald's. Be afraid ...

Eighth grade blasts more students right out of their shoes. Check with your friends or parents of your friends - it happened to all 3 of mine and they recovered very slowly. Don't be so hard on yourself...you want to do well, so just work on it! It will work! Good luck!
