Why do people Worship on Sunday, the first day? God clearly set the day of worship for the seventh day, Saturday.

6He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied
about you hypocrites; as it is written:
“ ‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
7 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’ c
8You have let go of the commands of God and are
holding on to human traditions.”
9And he continued, “You have a fine way of
setting aside the commands of God in order to observe
your own traditions!

.....................................................................................................................In a nut shell, human rules would definatley refer to Sunday, would it not? It was established by Roman emperrer Constantine in 321 AD......and he called it "The venerable day of the Sun". Last time I checked, wasn't constantine a Human? Just wanting to see what you all think......

Jesus fulfilled the law. So exactly what did Jesus fulfill. If Jesus kept God's law, what part of the law is deemed absolute?

The weekly Sabbath! And annual Sabbaths! Not the resurrection. First observe the weekly Sabbath and annual Sabbath's, then the rest will be put into it's proper place.

The weekly Sabbath is not Sunday the first day of the week, rather it is the last day of the week and starts at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday. Not midnight to midnight under the current theme of thinking of time.

The resurrection, took place not on the seventh day but on the eighth, that is, the first day of the Jewish week, which corresponds to our Sunday." After the Sabbath, and towards dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to visit the sepulchre." (Matthew 28:1. Cf also Mark 16:1-2; Luke 24:1; John 20:1).

The first day of the week therefore assumed a very special significance for the new dispensation, for the followers of Christ. They saw in the resurrection, greater reason to keep the first day if the week holy than the reason for keeping the seventh day holy. The first day of the Jewish week thus became the new, 'Lord's day' of the Christians. (Apoc. 1:10).

I have wondered, too. My thoughts: Jesus ascended into heaven on Sunday. Believing that is what separated the Christians from the Jews and so that day became the holy day for Christians, whereas it had been and continues to be Saturday for Jews. BTW, some Christians celebrate the Sabbath on Saturday (e.g. Seventh Day Adventists).

It is the day Jesus rose from the dead. The early Christians worshipped on Sunday which they called the Lord's Day. (See Acts 20,7; 1 Corinthians 16,2; Colossians 2,16-17 and Revelation 1,10)>

Some guy in the 20th century said it would be a good idea to devote Saturday to fun and Sunday to religion. Since that meant no work, no one objected.
