I've heard that urine is a suitable disinfectant when nothing else is available due to its natural sterile nature. Can anyone support or deny this?

Medicinally, urine contains ammonia, which can neutralize acids, and is usually free from bacteria, thus has disinfectant properties.Fresh urine can be used as wound disinfectant when nothing else is available.
Urine is sterile in nature while it is in your body but when it is excreted it undergoes chemical changes and bacterial growth. It must be clearly emphasized that the disinfectant properties of urine can be achieved if it is fresh but becomes hazardous if it has been left out for sometime as it could cause an irritation and infection.
