Detroit is great in the summer with 3 top notch casinos, Tigers baseball, several great shopping malls, the Motown museum (yes, right where Dianna and the girls sang), Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, great jazz clubs, good clubs, a great lake for boating, excellent restaraunts, several Broadway plays touring, and a quick hop to Windsor Canada for more gambling.
Of course, you may have been sarcastic with your question, but Detroit can be a pretty cool place.

I hate how people respond based on prejudices although they've probably never been there. I live in Buffalo and have heard from a lot of ignorant people, so I'm sorry for the rude answers you've received from the people who prefer to go to those predictable cities like New York and San Francisco.
I would say that you should each make a list of the things you'd like to do on your honeymoon. Then consider which location both of you could enjoy. Compromise. If you want to go to a museum but your fiancee wants to go to Jersey City, check out the museums in Jersey that you might like to visit.

Oh my gosh...Do not stay in Jersey City! It is not nice at all! If you are looking for somewhere cost-effective to stay near Manhattan, I recommend Lincoln Harbor (weehawken, which is only about 4 miles up from Jersey City, but a world of difference) which is right on the water looking at Manattan (there is a Sheraton there)...has a ferry which takes 6 minutes to get to Midtown and has nice restaruants. It's a nice area and you can enjoy your days in New York City.

replace your honeymoon plans and do something decrease priced. this is why i think of every person getting married ought to pay for their very own wedding ceremony and not count on others to accomplish that. We ended up spending purely a pair of days removed from abode in a hotel approximately 50 miles away after our wedding ceremony and have been "honeymooning" at abode over the final 11 months. we've planned a extra intricate, longer holiday this is already paid in complete to rejoice our first anniversary in 4 weeks.

I have never been to Jersey, but I was born and raised in Detroit, so you know where i would say.
However detroit is more of a party city than a romatic city.

Definitely Detroit. How often can you visit the Car Capital of America, and we all know the romance that ensues after witnessing the birth of a Chrysler......

That's some "interesting" honeymoon spots. Give some more info as to why you would choose a spot and maybe we can help more.
