If you were drafted, and they said you go to the Army. Can you say no I want to go to the marines, and they will let you? Also say you get drafted and your almost done with school. Not that I do not want to get out. I want to serve. Just the draft topic seems hott today. So just interested. Thanks.

Currently the way they want to work a draft (which probably won't be passes) is that if you are still college you can not be drafted because you are continuing your education this also goes for high school. Also if you haven't finished high school and you are a drop out or you are still like a senior, you will not be drafted because you don't have your degree.

As for the Marines part, I'm not completely sure... I think they would let you.

Another way to get out is with a policy called DADT [Don't Ask Don't Tell]. Basically if you are openly homosexual in the military they will discharge you with a 'dishonorable discharge.'


But yeah that is as much as I know, It was a policy debate topic about it this year. :) Good Luck!

I read about someone who was drafted into the Marines during WWII. Also, one of my college professors was told that he would be drafted unless he enlisted in the Marines.

My father was told in advance that he could enlist and have a choice of MOS, or just cross his fingers and hope he wouldn't be drafted.

There is no draft. Do not worry about it right now.

My dad was drafted and chose the army as they will promise a specific MOS.

there is no draft and no talk of a draft so this is really irrelevant if you ask me. stop worrying about something that isnt happening and worry about what is go enlist and serve so my husband can come home for awhile

buddy of mine got drafted in 1970 and went into t he Marines straight from the induction center.
