Your applying to much gel use a dime size amount rub into your hands then wet your hand with water. The water is going to make the gel even out into your hair.

A lot of gels flake. You can try using less and rubbing your hands together before applying it. You also might want to apply it before you put your hair up in a ponytail. Work fast so it doesn't dry and then you can still smooth out your hair.

I prefer to use a styling cream or pomade. It's much easier. Pantene makes a great pomade. It smells good & is cheap.

Maybe you already have too many products in your hair... or could be brand of hair gel. Try using less gel or find a gel that does not flake.

There are a lot of flake free gels, just read on the bottle and find some that says flake free.

Get a better gel. It's the gel that's flaking.

it's not your hair, it's the gel.

You better go look for some other hair gel, water based would be better. And look for one that has this moisturizer in it too.
