My boyfriend and I have been dating for 6 years. I went home on my birthday to celebrate it with my mom. So like he told me after i left he needed space. A week went by he apologized for how things turned out and then told me on aim its becuase he wants to change things in our relationship. Well he had a conversation with a friend of mine on aim about our relationship and how hes scared im going to find someone else. I laughed at his conversation and he found out and got real hurt saying i was toying with his feelings about it. Long story. So we talk on aim now but hes more distant from me an still upset about it. I ask him do you want me to move back he says ' i dont know' then I say i gotta go bye. around 4 hours later he text messages me to say "i love you' its one in the morning. First he pushes me away, then tells me he loves me saying his heart needs time to heal but he still loves me. My mom says to wait, dont chase after him, let him chase you if he loves you. What do i do?

No offense but it seems as if you and him may both be playing games and/or is confused about things. I think that he does care for you but once he sees that you seem nonchalant he may become distant in order to protect his feelings, which is typically a normal thing for anyone to do. Again I think that he really does care for you, try opening up a little more to him! Maybe he said that he needed space because he is a bit insecure and fears that you will get someone else! Try talking and communicating with him a bit more to clear some misconceptions!
