My dog is a golden retriever, Hanna-Belle. shes nearly 11 years old and i love her to death. shes quite healthy considering she gets around slowly for her old age, and one leg is shrter than all of the others, due to surgery as a puppy. other than that shes in good condtition. Her mother died at age 10. any idea as to Hanna-Belles lifespan??

That's like asking, "how long will I live?" Even with animals, only God knows the number of her days, so instead of worrying about how long she has left, enjoy each day as if it were her last. ok? It's a better way to live. :)

There really is not set "average" for a dog's life. Just like with humans, dogs are living longer and longer. History tells us that smaller breeds live longer than larger breeds, but actually large breeds are living longer and longer thanks to better health screenings and care available.
My 16-year old show ring Golden Retriever recently passed on three weeks ago after a fantastic 11-year Show career. He was neutered after retiring from the show ring, yet I kept him active throughout his later years. Altering a dog at any age can in fact extend his life a number of years, as long as he can put up with the surgery at that age.
Basic things like feeding him a healthy diet with things such as cooked chicken, oatmeal, fruits, some vegetables, among others will keep him vigorous and vibrant.
Another good idea is to keep his teeth clean, because a clean mouth can help him keep a healthy heart. A dirty, smelly, grossed-out mouth with brownish teeth can lead to infections, absessed teeth, and diseased gums.

I would say consult your veterinarian for a healthy-senior pet check. Simply blood work and physical exams will ensue that your Hanna-Belle's organs and body are in good shape for at least a couple more years.
Congrats on getting her to 11 years old!! So many Goldens are prone to hip and eye and heart conditions, including cancer, and do not make it past nine, unfortunately.
I wish you and Belle the very best:)

Average is from 10-15 years. But some can last 16 or 17 years.

Goldens are bigger dogs, so she won't live that long (over 16 years), but she may go on to live another 3 to 4 years.

I had a Dalmatian who had to be put down last year after a series of illnesses. He was 13 years, 9 months. He was fine until really the last year of his life, and even then, he was O.K. (just slower with hearing loss) until the last 6 weeks of his life. This was a bigger Dal - about the size of a Golden. So while there's zero guarantee, your dog may live another 2 or 3 years. It really depends on her genetics, luck, and overall healthcare.

On average though, I would say Goldens live 10-14 years.

I hope that she lives at least another 5 years in good health so you can enjoy every moment with her. I have a Golden now and another Dalmatian and I adore them! They are pups, but I'm already hoping they both live at least as long as my last Dal.

Take care and give her an extra hug tonight. :-)

HI! I've had Goldens live to be almost 17 but the average is about 14 if you keep her healthy.

Carry on loving her for a long time! Sadly her Mum died young... many retrievers live to 15 or more. Not long enough I grant you, but don't worry about her age now, just enjoy her.

Give her a hug from me!
