Hi,
I am not much of a computer gamer but have been interested in buying and playing some sort of a RPG game that has magic, soccery to combat and achieve goals. I was quite interested as a child in playing a game called 'the challange of five relams' where a person had to travel threw various relams of the universe to find magic spells and learn them and finally use it against an evil magician to finish the game.

I am looking for something simliar in today's gaming environment which is interesting to play.

Any good thoughts

thanks

Depending on your computer's specs, here are several options for you (note, some of these may have to be purchased online as they are no longer sold in stores).

1. The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. This game has VERY HIGH specs required to play it. In this game, you roam around a free environment (you can complete quests in any order and at almost any time). If you join the mage's guild in the game, you can eventually gain access to the ability to create your own spells as well as enchanting items. Magic is one way in which you can play this game. Other Strategies include hack and slash combat types, stealth, and various combinations of the 3 (i.e. there are magic spells that allow you to pick locks and become invisible so a stealth/magic hybrid is totally possible).

2. Fable. This game is a linear adventure in which you can power up spells by spending experience points like money. I had some fun with this game and it has a pretty good story-line to boot. There arent nearly as many magic choices as Oblivion or Arcanum.

3. Arcanum: Of steamworks and magic obscura. This game sets you in the shoes of a character who is one of the only survivors of a blimp crash. The world is your typical fantasy land (elves, dwarves, etc.) with one major difference; it is currently going through an industrial revolution. The game actually has endings based upon whether or not you prefer magic over technology and vice versa. Some possible party members who may join you might not if your too far on the techie/magic scale one way or the other. You also recieve bonuses for being further along the scale which opens up a tremendous amount of possibilities.
(you may have to buy this one from Ebay or Amazon. it will also be the least demanding in terms of specs).
