some cars have more issues then others. doesnt matter who is making them they all brake. i ve been working for dealers for 15 years worked for dodge, chevy and 12 years at ford. try asking a question about a certin product like a 2006 ford f250 v 10 or what ever it is you are after it will yeild better results.
as far as ford goes in genral the 4.6,5.4 and v10 are all good engines no real oil leak issues and run well. also very few problems with the 24v duratech

In my experience ford cars are crap, I had a 96 ford contour that stalled in the road the second day I had it, and it was just like that the rest of the time, the interior parts seemed flimsy and broke easily too, I had it until I sold it a year later. Ford trucks on the other hand seem to be really good I had a 91 explorer with 150k miles and the engine ran amazing it suffered from the same types of interior problems as the car though, just not put together really well. I've heard other people say the same, the cars seem not so realiable but the trucks and SUV's are pretty good, the 4.0 V6 in the explorers is a great motor, try a ford with that if you are getting one.

At this day in age, ALL new vehicles are reliable. This isn't the 80s anymore people. American cars are just as good as imports. Your statement is very broad, so there is no true accurate answer. What Ford did you have in mind? New, used? Truck, car? Obviously some models are better than others, and their trucks are arguably the best.
Everyone here who says "buy"...oh I'm sorry..."by" Japanese is completely oblivious to perhaps EVERY aspect of the automobile industry.
"I'm was a Ford tech and they had problems blah blah blah...."
Point me to a vehicle manufacturer who HASN'T had issues! When was were you a Ford tech? I would imagine during a time when Ford had production problems, which every company has at some point. Coincidence. If that is a legit argument, then we could recruit techs from EVERY company who have seen problems with their cars, then all of a sudden all cars would be junk. Then we could all ride horses. I'd probably buy a Mustang! ;-)

I'm expecting the NEWER Fords to be worse due to the fact the company is having finical trouble, and they're still using parts from the same suppliers.
About the only thing Ford makes that's of good quality is it's Trucks. Although, I've been trying to do some research on the Ford F-250 to see how many miles I can put on it's engine. I haven't had too much luck because sellers won't list the mileage of high-mileage vehicles.

I'm not sure of the newer fords, but the older ones had major troubles.I used to be a tech at a ford dealer for 15 years, and we were always busy with major stuff like engines & trannys. Now I,m a chev tech for 8 years, and we don't do the major repairs like i did at Ford, but if you are talking of a truck, well I would still go with a Ford as they can take abuse way better than a chev.Good luck with your decision.

Ford's are just as reliable as any other car. They ahve improved over the last decade and they make good cars and trucks. The trucks have been the best seller for 30 years in a row

I have a 1979 Mustang with over 300,000 miles on it. Everything stock. It all depends on how well you maintain them. I think it's funny that some of the imports are getting really crappy. They are having huge problems with engines and tranys in there new cars. Ford has gotten allot better over the years as it now owns Ford, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mazda(controls 33.4%), Mercury, Volvo(cars only). Ford now has the best all wheel drive in the world thanks to Land Rover.

Well my 87 Bronco has 147000 miles no problems.
My 2000 F250 has over 200,000 no problems
My 02 Taurus has 79,000 no problems.
Course have owned various makes and models with no major problems. Mostly any newer vehicle is reliable as long as you do your part and properly maintain it.
I manage a Govt. fleet of over 300 vehicles and with proper maintenance they last however with driver stupidity they don't.

ford makes too many models to ask "are fords reliable?"
ford trucks are more reliable than any other make on the planet... some ford cars don't stack up as well against asian manufacturers.

i have owned an '89 escort, '93 4wd ranger and '98 GT mustang and never had any major problems besides normal wear and tear. Fords seem to be easier and cheaper to fix compared to imports.
