No they shouldn't have the right because like with everything someone will abuse that priveldge and next thing you know you will have cases of kidnapping, assault and rape. And of course before that right can even be given out there has to be a way or set of rules that everyone must go by that will determine who is or isn't illegal. I mean are you going to base it on skin color (wich is you do its called racial profiling) or are you going to base it on how thick of an accent they have when they speak english, or are you going to simply base it on wether they can speak english at all.Too many things could be mixed up when rules aren't set and citizens are given at least a fairly amount of power. The best example of citizens given such power without guidance would be a book called Lord of the Flies. so to answer your question simply,no they shouldn't be allowed to detain illegals.

well, if that's the case, then you need to arrest yourself! Because this country belonged to the native American Indians before it did the intruding Americans! And also alot of this country including Texas, California, and other states was part of mexico first!

It would be against the law to hold someone captive against their will based on what a person only thinks. Anyone who would do that would be faced with a lawsuit, and rightly so.
