Are you the only proprietor of the cat? ie: it replaced right into a small kitten while you obtain it. if so, do you have youngsters? in case you do, possibly they have been pulling this is tail or in spite of! while you're no longer the unique proprietor, possibly a prior proprietor has pulled this is tail. Assuming of direction which you have checked the tail for injuries and so on and found no longer something. some cats do exactly in comparison to having their tail messed with in any respect, do no longer forget that they use it for stability. pals of mine have a cat that replaced right into a tiny kitten while obtained. To the desirable of their information the infants have in no way pulled this is tail and nor has the tail been injured or broken in any way. This cat wil turn and chew you in case you as much as touch this is tail. It in no way bites / hisses / growls no mater what else you do to it, in spite of if it merely flips while this is tail is messed with! we've 2 cats, the two lady from the comparable clutter. One will activate you if this is tail is messed with and the different loves it.. they have consistently been like this.

no cat likes it's tail getting messed with. think on it. geting grabbed by the tail/back end is too much like getting caught by a predator. some instincts go deeper than any family bonds. could be he's just a wild one. it happens. i usually take those ones since they'll find getting a secure, safe home very difficult. it could be that you broke his temper as a kitten, they are afraid when taken to a new home & need time, peace & space to get aquainted with their new environment. you should always let a new kitten come to you in it's own time.
i'd let him be. only give him attention when he comes to you for it. if he gets aggressive, clap your hands & tell him sternly "no!" hissing like a cat is also a good way to discourage certain behaviour.
it sounds like he's merely choosy about where & when he'll accept petting. some cats are just like this. don't touch him where he doesn't want touched & he should calm down. if you keep where he hates it, he'll feel threatened, & will feel the need to defend himself.
good luck.

Some cats simply don't like to be touched around their back end. Have you tried rubbing your kitty's head or scratching his chin? Most cats I know love that.
Is there a lot of hostility directed at the cat? If so, that could account for a lot of the behavior problems: Cats know when someone doesn't like them and will react accordingly.

Sounds like it just gonna take patience, my friends two kittens were similar, best to wait for him to come to you for affection. Take it slowly he will eventually start to trust you. All cats have a different personality, i had a kitten before Christmas she was timid and kept hiding to begin with but we left her to it and now she a lot more confident and can even walk around with her like a baby she loves the fuss and cuddles but she also likes her time alone too. She rough with her play fighting though can be painful lol Good luck hope it works out for you

my cat hissed for months and couldn't touch him at all for ages - it could just be that he needs time to get used to you. you should be taking him to the vets for his injections soon so you'll be able to get his back & tail check then.
just restrict touching him to when he's being nice for the time being - this will probably make touching him ok if it's in the kitchen and then when he gets used to it you can touch him in other parts of the house! be very patient x

try and train your cat with the ham, like put the ham on the ground a few inches away from u and when ur cat goes to eat the food, REALLY gently stroke his head and maybe neck, do this for a while, your kitty needs to get used to you, we have a cat similar to yours, we cant pick her up or anything, but if u treat the cat she will get used to u petting her, hope i helped

He might always be like this. I have a couple of cats who were from feral parents and it now 7 years later and you still have to approach them with caution. Having said that, they are more calmer than they were and trust me more than they did, but compared to my other cats they still seem a bit wild. Others cant approach them, but i can now and give them their tablets and stuff, but the vet cant touch them or they will rip him apart.
Talk to your cat, become a cat whisperer, it does work. Try it.

Be patient with him, scratch his head and leave it at that for now. When we first got our kitten it was like a demon, you never knew when it would attack or from which direction. We finally decided it was "psychologically disturbed" and got on with it. It's almost 13 now and still has it's moments but it's favourite place to sleep is still my lap!

we have a cat almost exactly like that. we only got it at 4 weeks. now it hates being held, it meows wen u hold her, and it only likes it wen u scratch behind her ear or under her chin.
btw now our cat is 1 year and 4 months.
it might be because it is having pain in its lower area. u should ask a vet-they might be able to help u.
