trybugle,
The Old Testament mentions that only a slave has piercings. This was written in the context of setting Israel apart from the wicked people around them. I believe that this passage is irrelevant today based on context of the verse, and instructions in the new testament to value a person's character over his appearance.
Piercing a sin? No, unless it becomes more important than relationship with God.
Good Luck,
Dana B.

I go to a catholic school but I am not a Christian.... uh... I would say that piercing any body part is fine. It doesn't really go against a sin - I meant as long as you don't do as a satanic ritual.... or with some kind of sinful intent - it's not the piercing that is the problem - you really have to look at the reasons behind it + what a certain denomination believes. Are your reasons for piercing moral?
Religion questions are questions you basically have to ask yourself and ask for guidance, I guess. I can't tell you anything specific because I don't know your denomination or how seriously you follow your beliefs. If you think about - Christianity has all been made up after Jesus died (and rose ...?) by followers. If you are a follower, try and use your best judgment.
And if you are Christian - does it matter? Don't you believe in an all forgiving God anyways? Apparently he will forgive you if you commit a sin, so don't sweat it...
Religion.

In all honesty, I believe that piercing your body is not a sin. However, I have not read the bible so I do not know what the bible advocates in this situation. Therefore, I am left inclined to say that this is more of an opinion question on my part.

Well your body is a temple, and defiling it with piercings is like defiling a temple, so yes. Besides, they look horrible anyway. God is a parent. Would he want anyone to pierce thier navel?

No, it isn't. A lot of people look down on it but is not a sin. The only mention of tattoos & piercings is in the Old Testament. The Old Testament is called The Law & the New Testament is what most Christians use as a measure, it states that we are under Grace not Law.

I'm not sure exactly. I agree that it probably depends on why you got your body pierced and what you put in the piercings. I have my ears pierced. I don't think that's a sin. It's between you and GOD. Pray to GOD and JESUS. Ask them to guide you in the right path. It works. Trust me. Prayer is a wonderful thing. GOD bless you!

No. For OT Jews an ear piercing was a sign of slavehood. No real significance to a Christian unless you go way out a limb and cite some stuff about mutilating the temple of God.

Nope. I have my ears pierced and I'm considering getting my cartliage pierced too. My sister has her nose pierced. I have a lot of Christian friends with piercing actually.

I don't see why it would be.. unless you get carried away with extreme body-modification, I don't think it's a sin.. but I've seen pictures of people who have cut off a hand just for kicks.. that sort of thing crosses the line..
