by the look of the different questions you have asked recently, it sounds to me like you are very interested in getting a white GSD. I personally own a black and tan, but my sister-in-law owned a white GSD (Nugget) she lived to be 14 yrs old and was the sweetest dog! the only health issues that she faced in her life was mild hip dysplasia and allergies. which were controlled with medication. I don't know about the deafness, since she was just fine and could hear a jet high in the air before anyone saw it...lol
I would recommend a GSD whether it was white or any color for that matter. they possess some wonderful traits and are easily trained, loyal, intelligent and just plain old wonderful family dogs! to some who answered that they aren't that great with kids...I beg to differ on that! look at the pic by my name...that was my then 5 month old (kirby) in a down stay for 2 hours while my youngest son decided to use him for a pillow outside on a nap! he refused to move until my son woke up. as with all dogs training them to be with kids is a must so they know their boundaries. I spent many hours training him to be the wonderful dog he is now, and it was worth every second I put into him. he has even saved my youngest from running out in the road by herding him back to me! I couldn't ask for a more loyal companion for my family!

I have never heard of WGS dogs having more of a problem with deafness than any other breed.
You have asked several questions on WGS dogs... do you have one or are planning on getting one? Most reputable breeders can give you an extended pedigree, and ask them if they will refund your money if you have it vet-checked and they find something physically wrong with the dog.
I love my dog, and am not into showing so I don't care if she isn't eligible. She is such a sweetie, and I can't say enough good things about her.

White German Shepherds are great! I have two of them and I've never had any problems with mine, one I adopted as a pup from the local shelter and he is about 4 years old know and a big baby, the second one I have is a white german shephard mixed with timberwolf, he is a very good dog a big baby to us and is great with children,he's a very protective dog and is around 6 years old. I dont believe that they do ours is very alert, and my family has always had german shephards.

I had one many years ago and he was very intelligent and loving!! A very beautiful dog. His name was King and I still miss him. He never went deaf, nor was he hard of hearing.

I've known two white german shepherds. They were both surprisingly dumb. One got run over by a sled on a couple occasions the other never realized it was way bigger than my cat.

Its absolutely possibe that these guys were the exception rather than the rule. We'll just call them "special".

They are noisy--they bark at everything.

And they are also usually a one-person dog, so NOT good with small kids.

Yes, they are especially if you have kids.
