guys tell me why?

if you tell a girl you like her.
and you know she likesz` you back.
but then later you try to "hook her up" with your friend..
why do you guysz` do that?
is it because you want to see if she will reject them for you.

I wouldn't. Seems pretty stupid to me. You're probably missing out some info. Maybe his friend likes you? Maybe he's insecure and doesn't feel he's good enough for you? You know more your situation than I do. But I don't think boys will do it just to see if a girl would reject them for him.
