I can't speak for everyone elses experience but the recruiter didn't lie to me about anything. As a matter of fact I found Army life much easier than what I expected.
I also found out that 90% of the time when a soldier complained about his recruiter lying either the soldier just wasn't paying attention or they never discussed the topic. If you didn't ask the question about something, you can't come back later and say you were lied to. As far as bonus's , Job assignments, and duty assisnments go, if they promised you any of these you had all the details in writing before you ever took the oath. If you didn't have it in writing you didn't have a promise and if you just didn't understand the documents they gave you , they probably should not have taken you to begin with.

They are sales people, with goods to be sold.
The commodity is the human being, and once you are in the military, it's MUCH different.
They talk about school as if everyone is using this as a stepping stone to higher education...but how do you REALLY buckle down at school and be a soldier at the same time(you cannot serve two masters)?
Anything more than a 3-year enlistment is TOO long...a signing bonus is not worth a SINGLE MOMENT of your life, but they make it out like it's no big deal..it IS a big deal...it's YOUR life, not just a bonus for a recruiters quota system.
NO more than 3 years...don't stay stateside...get stationed(in writing) in Germany, Italy, Japan, etc...NOT the middle east...hot...they don;t care about you, plus the other places got the HOT woman!

Well from personel experience, I tell the truth. Alot of recruiters tell you what you want to know truthfully. If your recruiter tells you everything, they will not have anything else to talk about. What I am saying is, if you dont ask the question, how are we suppose to know what to ask. We will tell you everything the military offers and can not promiss you that you are not going to war. Oh yea, doesnt matter if I put in anybody at all, I still get paid. If someone is willing to listen to me, I will tell what I have experienced. Whether they believe me or not. Army Strong!!

The probably don't mention TBIs - traumatic brain injuries. The effects can range from a slight concussion to coma and death. The injuries frequently go undiagnosed; multiple concussions can lead to permanent brain damage.
About 10% of combat troops — and 20% in front-line infantry units — suffered concussions during their tours.

i never talked to a army recruiter. the airforce recruiters lie alot tho. they were telling me about all the flying they do.... a Maj. in the airforce told me if you even want to be working on the plane while its off the ground you have to be a officer and even then you arent guaranteed to be in a airplane. he even told me the Navy was a better choice to fly.

People shouldn't blame their recruiters and say that they were deceived... people should join the military because they want to serve their country. The fact that they get paid pretty well, get decent health care for themselves and their families, get a place to live (or money to rent or buy), and an allowance for food should be incentive enough... BUT they can also get bonuses, 100% tuition assistance while on active duty plus the GI bill...which one day they will probably be able to give to their children... the military has been good to me and my family... Watch some WWII movies or the history channel before you complain about our modern military... we've only been in Iraq 4 years... it took the Greeks 150 to defeat the Persians!

Never have and never will. The only thing they care about is
lying to people so they can fill their quota. One thing everyone
of them will tell you is that you're taking a bigger risk living here instead of over there.

They don't tell you the bonuses are taxed...and all those high speed pictures they have up of rangers and special forces isn't the entire army. Those are the elite few.
