Last week, for the first time, I suffered spasmic pains to my right temple for 3 days (almost 3 times per day). Once it was my left side. This morning, I had an "ache" to my left eye when looking to the right which has lasted most of the day and, consequently, caused a headache to my forehead. I have taken paracetamol which has dulled the pain, not alleviated it. I have booked an appointment with my optician for next week (short sighted but not severely - for TV and driving). I am just a little concerned as I have never experienced eye pain nor headaches (unless alcohol related!). Anyone experienced this? At best I am thinking a muscle strain, at worst - well, who knows???

It might be something simple like a cluster headache, but I would see a doctor. Some diseases like optic neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve) can cause pain with eye movement. I have never heard of straining an eye muscle.

You should see an ophthalmologist (who is an MD,) not an optometrist (general eye exams, glasses, contacts) or an optician (physically makes glasses.)

Sounds like a strained muscle to me. But I would recommend that you still go to the doctor just in case.

My friend had headaches, pain, blurry vision, and eye strain. Not sure if you have that but it turned out her retina was detaching and she had to go for immediate eye surgery, but that's because she put it off for a long long time.
