The question only implies on Jesus' divinity and not his faith to God. It is NOT an assertion that it is already proven by recent discoveries, that is why it's "If...". It is just asking an answer to a hypothetical question.

The crucifixion of Jesus was unknown among the early church as late as the end of the second century. This was close to 176 years after the church would like us to believe the brutal end of its God occurred. It must be immediately pointed out that the modern church admitted the records of Bishop Irenaues (d.202) created a serious problem. They said of him: “Although of crucial importance in the development of the church’s theology. Irenaeus presents problems of considerable difficulty in regard to details about Jesus Christ”. Irenaeus is fondly described by the church hierarchy as the “depositary of primitive truth”, but he denied a virgin birth, and never mentioned a trial of Jesus Christ, said nothing of a crucifixion or resurrection and claimed Jesus declined towards old age..why should any of it affect my faith?

Christianity is the religion of the Christ. It is not the same as the religion of Jesus.

What Jesus asked for was that you forsake everything and follow him. There are very few people who can or will do that, although I know of two; one is an Anglican priest and the other is a Humanist-Roman Catholic.

The religion of the Christ is a whole nother ball of wax. The early builders of Christianity just merged the walk with Jesus into the prevailing religions of the Middle East and built the new one. The new Christ figure was just a continuation of the earlier ones, such as Attis of Phrygia and Osiris of Egypt. All the mystical stuff such as virgin birth, resurrection, eternal life, etc., was just borrowed and built in. The opposition of good and evil, light and darkness, Christ and Satan, came directly from Persian Zoroastrianism, in some cases word for word.

Paul, who was educated by a Greek, introduced a lot of Plato's mysticism into Christianity. The concept of life after death is not big in Judaism but Paul took it from the Greeks and made it significant in Christianity.

Later, Augustine of Hippo established basic Christian doctrines such as the Trinity, and the canonical scriptures that we today call "the" Bible. Augustine was a Manichean before he converted to Christianity, and his Manicheanism can still be seen in the black-and-white mindset of today's fundies.

Maybe, if I were a Christian, it might, but for me, the whole God is Jesus is God is his Son is his Holy Spirit thing just boggles my mind. I guess I have to remember spirits can bi-tri-locate or whatever, but, rest assured, there will never be any proof to that affect.

My religion is based on doing to others, period, or as Sylvia Browne always says, "Love God, Do Good, then Shut Up and Go Home." I personally don't worship any God that demands my penitence.

Since I believe in the divine, I believe it is possible that God can ressurect, if you believe he "rected" in the first place, it is only logical. But, our science will never be able to prove Jesus did or didn't come back from the grave...nor will they ever in my lifetime. If they ever do, the diehards will just say it is junk science trying to debunk the divine, and they will remain faithful.

Allan,

It absolutely would change because it would mean that Jesus was a liar and that the bible is too.

However, if it was going to be proven that Jesus was not resurrected, the proof would have already occurred. The people who crucified Him had every reason to prevent the resurrection, and made up stories, bribed the tomb guards, but were not able to create a credible counter story nor disprove the resurrection. Don't take my word for it - read the account in the book of John.

Good Luck,
Dana B.

When, where, and how did science prove Jesus did not resurrect from the dead? If you are talking about that recent discovery of "Jesus tomb", then you are in error. That site was poorly excavated and science can never tell for sure if that is Jesus by DNA because they do not an absolute compatiable sample to campare it to. The big thing was they said they found a box with bones in it that says Jesus son of Joeseph. Jesus and Joeseph were common names in first century Palestine. That box proves nothing. This excavation was so poorly done the Discovery Channel were sorry for showing it and will not show it again because basically it's just a bunch of idiots finding a box of bones that says Jesus and saying it was Jesus Christ, like he was the only one who lived with the name of Jesus. So will it affect my faith, please, it will take more faith to believe that hogwash than the actual ressurection. If this is what you were talking about when you said the ressurection was "disproved" by science, I anwsered your question, if not please email and tell me when, where, and how the ressurection was disproved.

OK, we will forgo the obligatory remarks that Science will never be able to prove this. But, yes let us say for argument sake that they did. The Christian faith is destroyed in a twinkling of an eye. This leaves only the Jewish faith and the Muslims for God based faith. I still find too much in the Old Testament to put it out to pasture.

But, if you prove that wrong I guess it is time to put on the ski mask and make some money. Because nothing in life matters and nothing is holding my morality in check. What do I care what happens to others? It is only myself and those I deem important.

I flunked science three times in high school, so I could be wrong, but you can't prove that scientifically. If you can prove it scientifically, that Jesus didn't rise from the dead on the third day, you can call not only me an idiot, but Einstein, Steven Hawkings, etc.

But, for the sake of argument, if it were proven, it would shake the very foundation of christianity. Maybe the Jews are right.

Science is limited - it cant answer everything and never will, despite its vast accumulation of knowledge - in the grand scheme of things, science still doesn't know 1/1000th of what people credit them with.

So how is science going to disprove Jesus' resurrection? They cant. They can only come up with a crude hypothesis (hypothetical based on limited knowledge) which doesn't allow for other considerations because they are fixed in their minds against Christ and God period, and they only work toward that end.

I would ask...what kind of death could anyone ever be resurrected from? What is "death" according to the scriptures? Is it physical death or spiritual death? What kind of death are we saved from? Everyone physically dies, so are we really saved from a physical death? I say we are not saved from physical death but spiritual death. This is the only way the scriptures are NOT contradictory.

If you read 1 Corinthians 15 you see that only by the resurrection of Jesus are we saved. So if there is no resurrection, then we are not "saved". But, we have to believe in the resurrection to be “saved”. Then I go back to, what kind of death are we saved from, and what kind of death is Jesus resurrected from? Surely you are saying that science would prove that a physical resurrection is impossible and such prove it (the physical resurrection) wrong. Such proof would only do the “Christian” faith good, because if Christians are believing the resurrection saves them from a physical death, then they are wrong. HISTORY PROVES THIS WITHOUT A DOUBT. So if one reads 1 Corinthians 15 very carefully, one would see that THE “death” that Jesus was saved from in the resurrection is the SAME “death” from which we are saved. We are save from this “death” by simply believing in this thing we call the resurrection of the dead, spoken of in 1 Corinthians. Again, proving that Jesus didn’t physically resurrect from the dead, could only do the faith good. It would cause people to look closely at scriptures to finally see that “death” as portrayed throughout scriptures does not represent a physical death at all, but a spiritual death. That is what Jesus is saved from, a spiritual death, that took place when Man decided to live this fleshly life separate from God and separated from Christ. That is what death is, and that is the death (death on the cross, crossing from spiritual to fleshly physical) that Christ is resurrected from. And he is resurrected when you decide to live a spiritual life rather than a physical life.

God doesn't exist.
It was a government conspiracy to collect taxes and to control its population.
The idea is that you follow the guidelines, set forth by god and you will go to heaven right?
well the idea of the government is to stop crime and to make money through taxes.
If you believe in the idea well answer some questions...
where is god now?
Why is god all powerful and why did he create us?
Yes. It is easy to believe in a higher power than to realize when we die, because then
we can think about the nice place we are going. If people realized that in life there is only pleasure
and pain they would commit a lot of crimes.
God decided to contact humankind through books...?
With his all powerful ability dont you think he could have contacted us in dreams?
Strange so people who can read are trusted with god those who can't well they won't know gods message.
Well people who don't know how to read probably don't work and pay taxes anyways so the governments didn't bother with them.
Well now with these Islam jihads we know the truth. These muslim radicals want to kill people who don't believe in their religion.
Pray to god? Keep praying, I'm sure he will answer in a few millenia.
God suddenly stopped with the miracles when we have videotapes and cameras to actually show it.
Strange...we die. Wouldn't god create servants that were immortal so they can believe and serve forever?
Waste your life to god and when you die and finally realize the truth...the irony.
Too late then indeed thats what the governments thought.
Well if you continue your forced existence may god bless you.
