I really doubt that they erased Microsoft Word from your computer. They might have just deleted the thing you click to open Microsoft Word, but you still probably have it on your computer installed. They have no reason to delete it. Here's a quick test to see if you have it or not:
press Start
click on Run on the lower right hand side of the Start menu
type "winword" without the quotes
press enter
If you do that right, Microsoft Word should open if it is still installed.
If you still have Microsoft Word, then what you need to do is to create a shortcut to the program. I really doubt that Geek Squad would erase a program.
To get your shortcut back so you don't have to type winword into the Run program option in the Start Menu every time you want to open up Microsoft Word, do the following steps:
open My Computer
double click Local Disk (C:)
double click on Program Files
double click on Microsoft Office
double click on Office
scroll down, and find the Microsoft Word icon in the big list of icons (don't touch anything else!)
right click (click with the right mouse button) the icon
select Pin to Start Menu
Now, you have a shortcut to Microsoft Word in your Start Menu
If you want to, you can drag the Microsoft Word item in your Start Menu to the place you usually go to in order to open Microsoft Word, like your desktop or the Quick Access place in your taskbar.
If Geek Squad really did delete it, then reinstall Microsoft Word by putting in your Microsoft Office disk into your computer.

Try doing this.... look in ..
c:\Program Files
there should be a folder called Microsoft Office.
And in it you should be able to find many different folders. Look for something called Office xx (xx will be some numbers)
You should find MSWord in there.
If you don't the there is a secondary way to check if your word has really been deleted.
Go to Control Panel >> Add and remove Programs
here in the list look for something like "Microsoft Office........."
if you don;t have it then it has been removed from your computer.
In which case you may need to reinstall it. Which requires a install disc. If you have it then just insert it and follow the instructions.

I am assuming that you are using Windows XP and that your hard drive is just one partitiion, that is, you only have a C: drive.
Here is one way to see if Word is still there that is pretty easy:
Click on Start, then My Computer, then on your C: drive.
You will see a bunch of folders. One of them should be labeled "Program Files". Click on the folder called "Program Files". You might get a warning that you shouldn't open that folder. Go ahead and open it anyway.
What happens from there depends upon which version of Word you have. In my case, I have Office 2003 Professional installed, and the file I click on is called Microsoft Office. Click on it (or double click it that doesn't work).
I then have a folder named Office11. Inside of that folder are many folders. Look around until you see one that looks like a blue W inside of a blue box. I have a folder that looks like that and is called "Winword." When I click on that folder, Microsoft Word starts. If Word does not start when you click on the W folder, you might have the wrong folder.
If Word opens up, that means you still have Word, and all the Geek Squad did was to remove the shortcut to Word. If that is the case, just right click and hold to drag the W icon onto your desktop, and choose Create Shortcuts Here.
Here is a still easier way to see if you have Word. Look in your "my documents" folder and see if you have any folders with that blue W on top of what looks like a piece of paper with typewriting on it. Double click it, and if Word opens up the document, you still have Word.
If the Geek Squad truly did erase Word, then they owe you a new copy of the program.
While you are arguing with them over that, please be aware that you can download excellent, free open source word processors or even entire office suites. I like Open Office. It opens up Word documents. The only disadvantage is that it will not save your documents in Word format unless you specifically tell it to. http://www.openoffice.org
You don't even have to have a word processor installed on your system! All you need is a modern web browser. Just go to one of several online sites that offer online word processing. I like writely.com because it works with Google, but there are plenty out there.
Presumably, Dell also gave you some sort of recovery disks or disks with your computer. Ideally, they would have you a Windows XP install disk and a number of other disks to install the software bundled with your computer. Some companies just give you one or two disks to restore your hard drive to factory condition. I just bought a Sony Vaio notebook that didn't even offer that. It just had a special "recovery partition" that you used to restore your system. I had to order and pay for recovery DVD's for my system. Note that ANY of these options will wipe out all of the data on your disk, but you do backup your files, don't you?

reinstall it. If you dont have a disk for it you will probably have to go buy it. You cant just get it back if they uninstalled it. If anything take it back to them and tell them to put it back since they took it off.
