Yeah, I know the internet had not been invented yet. But what I'm getting at is: What was the difference between the common person's life in biblical times and the common persons life today?.
For instance:
-Most people back then thought the world was flat.
-Most people lived their lives within a 5 or 10 mile radius of their home (except soldiers and royalty)
-Swift and drastic “justice” system.
-What else??? Education? Lifestyle? Crime and Punishment?

I think everybody was a lot dirtier - and their breath smelled really bad because there was no oral hygeine. They never protray that in movies or passion plays - but I think that's how it was.

Medicine was so primitive that it consisted of incantations (sort of like a bronze age Benny Hinn) and often you were worse off after having been bled by leeches. The HBO series Rome does a good job of capturing the feel, decadence, and food of that era. Imagine eating stuffed songbirds, Raw Animal testicles to boost your testosterone etc

Actually the Romans had advanced indoor plumbing, central heat, hot baths (WAS a big thing back then) sewers, glass windows with hardware, I AM NOT KIDDING ABOUT THIS. They also had inside toilets, kitchen sinks http://www.theplumber.com/pom.html
