I have a 1 year old beagle who never shuts up, she will howl all day and night. I know this is the type of nature for this kind of dog, but my landlord said if she doesnt quiet down i have to move or get rid of her. She just started doing this about 2 months ago. thanks

A battery powered bark collar is very effective. I have a Chihuahua mix and a Jack Russell mix that both would bark at anything that moved anywhere in the neighborhood. It only took about 3 barks after I put the collars on for them to make the connection between their barking and the electric shock and they stopped. They cost about $50, but the peace of mind at night is worth every penny.
Good luck.

I have a very good friend that has a very old basset hound. The dog is very, very vocal and barks whenever she is excited or demanding attention, which is a lot. My friend is not bothered by the barking and says it's 'just part of her breed', and so she never corrects the barking behavior.

When she and her dog visit our house to play with my dogs, I don't allow the dog to bark uncontrollably. My friend says 'your house, your rules', so I correct the dog every single time she barks by saying "NO!" as loudly as I can. It only took a couple of visits for the dog to stop barking at my house. The dog will bark at my friend, to no correction, and bark at me; when I correct her, she stops, because I give her the correction every time and she knows what is expected of her.

The key to correcting any behavior is consistency. It will be very tough in the beginning, because each time she barks or howls, you will need to respond quickly and firmly. Don't give in, not even once. Use a little spray bottle or squirt gun if it makes it easier to remember to correct her.

If you're leaving her alone, you may want to consider crate training her. Make sure she gets plenty of exercise also--tired dogs are quieter dogs. Keep at it, and good luck!

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/eNoWU

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

It is bred into a beagle to bay.

Try playing with her and exercising her more often.

Do not, not, NOT get a bark collar. I have seen those things burn holes into a dog's neck. No, no, no.

I think you'd be best off getting advice from a professional dog trainer or a beagle breeder. Look up some in your area and call them.

Good luck.

Well i use a shock collar and it works on my dog at least in the beginning so youll have a couple months of silent and if you need just a few minutes of silence put a hunk of peanut butter in its mouth

I had a German Shepard puppy who used to do that. I got me a fly swater and gave her a light swap when she would bark a lot. She cut it out after a week.
