The best way to deal with this is to keep him on a leash when you have visitors, until you train him out of it. When someone comes to the house put him on leash BEFORE you let the person in so the dog doesn't have a chance to misbehave. Visitor greets humans first and ignores dog. Then you have to keep him leashed and ignore any attention seeking behaviour from him ie barking, whining, jumping etc etc etc. By ignore I mean no telling him no, no picking him up, nothing like that, just keep him on a short enough leash to be controlled by you. Once dog realises he's not getting his own way the visitor can greet him calmly and then ignore him again.

You will have to be consistent with this, especially at two years old, as it has already been learned and re-inforced.

You could perhaps speed the process up by having a friend come round to help train so you can tell them exactly what you want them to do. Eventually your dog will learn that he gets no attention if he acts like a spoiled brat, but does when he acts like a good boy.

Persevere with it, it's time consuming and a bit heart breaking if he's whining or barking, but the rewards will be immense.

Some people also have luck with crating when the visitor is there. Just make sure if you crate that it is seen by the dog as a fun happy place, so use it at other times than just when someone visits. Perhaps have a treat or two when he's in the crate, but as always ignore the negative behaviour and reward ONLY the positive.
