I see how you are all coming out of the woodwork...have nothing better to talk about but God, right? Who are you kidding? Obviously this is effecting your emotions where you have trouble functioning on a day to day basis. Check back with me when you are old and dying. I'd like to see what side of the fence you are on then....

A healthy debate? Only one of you seem to be able to carry on a healthy debate.

What I'm implying is that atheists seem to be Obsessed with the subject. Just an observation of mine...

Paladin and a few others - Yes, I have noticed that a multitude of questions on this same subject have been posed....Duh!
Could be that I simply wanted to arouse the ire of some atheists once again.

We live in a disassociative, disfunctional and confrontational society and it's obvious there are more non-believer's today than ever before. That's unfortunate, because among other things, religion provides powerful forms of "connectivity." It's also apparent that organized religion provides connectivity through community. That is what is lacking today. Ability to cope with and adjust to stressful life changes is an important determinant of well-being and mental health. For those of us who believe, there is comfort and consolation in knowing there is a personal eternally observing deity who not only is aware of our existence but also promises ultimate reunion. Many of you "non-believers" will change your way of thinking when your life is coming to an end.

It would seem to me that there are only two possibilities:

1) Some get their kicks out of trying harass/anger people of faith.
....or,
2) Despite the bold front, they know in their hearts that maybe...just maybe, they're wrong.

Those whose only goal is being "extremely offensive" tend to be real annoying (!). Those that are seeking a logical debate/discussion I wholeheartedly welcome.

You're Level 4. You should know by now how Yahoo! Answers works. When you were typing this question, didn't it show you that thousands of other people have asked this same question?

For the 4,962nd time this month, atheists have opinions about religion, too, and many even consider themselves to be spiritual.

rosa q: "Atheists have got to argue. They cant do that among themselves."

You've obviously never participated in an atheist discussion group. Atheists don't all agree on everything. To the contrary. All they agree on is that there is no proof of the existence of deities. Everything beyond that is open to debate.

Atheists have something to say about religion. Some of them like to say that it's silly and serves no purpose. And - who would they say that to - other than the people in the R&S section?

I'm learning that it's really not that important to be right. A lot of times being "right" means confrontation - so you have this choice: You can be right or you can be happy. I guess that the atheists in the R&S section are choosing to be "right."

And I'd also like to add that there are MANY atheists who are not on here - and they're just going around being good people - just like some of the people who do believe in God.

Some people enjoy picking arguments, or just a healthy debate.

Some people relieve stress by going after others on the Internet.

Why? Do you tihnk they should not be allowed to discuss just because they don't believe in a religion?

Because christianity is a severe threat to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is the most divisive, harmful, abusive, and dangerous thing around at the moment. It breeds terrorism, intolerance, cruelty, ignorance, and so on...

As long as we continue to hate and kill each other for bronze age myths then atheists will be needed to try and stop it.

And it's just kind of amusing to come here.

Because Atheism describes the religous part of the life of someone whe does not beleive in a God. Where should Athiests hang out when they want to discuss their feelings on that subject?

For the same reason Literature Majors spend an entire semester, if not more, analyzing The Canterbury Tales, even though they're fiction.

One need not believe in a thing to have an interest in the topic of the thing.

There are atheist who are spiritual, ya know? And why can't they be here? It's a free world. It's nice to hear from everyone's point of view on how we came into existence and all that jazz.

It is a subject that I feel terribly important.

“Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear”
- Thomas Jefferson

The world is in dire trouble due to religion. Do you realize that when the President of N. Korea detonated their first nuclear bomb, he declared to his people that it would not disturb their holy mountain. With people that think like that, we are all in danger!

Imagine when President Ahmadinejad gets a nuke. Here you can see where he says that he says that he has the cure for aids (as he refers to his nuclear program) which is followed by death to America chants:
