I have only left them for a couple of days, but I am planning a vacation where I'll be gone for a week and I'm feeling a bit guilty because I know they will miss be terribly!! Taking them with me is not an option since I have three full grown Dobermans and a medium size mutt. Thanks for your advice.

Aww! poor babies! they are going to miss you! but mommie needs a vacation once in a while :-]
You should leave them with a RESPONSIBLE friend, or familey member, who you think they would enjoy staying with.
If not, a vet bc thy are equiped incase something happens, or look for a boarding kennel. I keep my dobie at a vets just incase, i know him. he can hurt himslef, even if he is in a little room, with a straight jacket on. hes just that silly.
And make sure the kennel is clean, and all the other animals look happy, i know some may not bc they may miss their owners =[
also when you do leave them, give them each a sock and shirt that you have worn and have not washed so they wont miss you as much, and it wil help them sleep. but if you come back, and its all chewed up, thats okay, that just means that they missed you very much!
call your vet and ask for a good boarding kennel, or look in the phone book for a doggie day care, or kennel, and ask around, you may find one with a reasonable price =]

Get a petsitter. They will be most comfortable in their own home.
If you want to board them, try local vet clinics and many different boarding places.
Ask to tour the kennels where they will be staying. If they don't allow tours, it is a bad sign.
Look for spacious, airy, clean kennels [they will probably smell bad, but that doesn't always mean they aren't clean]. Make sure there are no sharp edges or anything. See if the other animals look comfortable. Do they have beds, blankets, fresh water?
Ask how many times they walk and feed. Ideally, they should be walked 2-3 times a day and fed 1-2 times. Make sure they have water for your pet at all times. Places that let you leave blankets and your own food are a plus. Make sure the kennel staff are there every day.
A vet clinic with good boarding facilities is a plus in my personal book, because they are well equipped to deal with any health problems your pet may have while you are gone.

Find a high end kennel with lots of running room for them to play. Try asking your vet if they can recommend anyplace and also try doing internet searches for kennels in your area.
Good luck to you and have a great vacation. : )

I leave my baby's with family. At first i sat down an thought about a person that I would trust my children with. For me that person is my mother, so when i leave town and they cant come with me then they stay with my mother.

I think you should send your dog to a dog kennel. The people that work there will groom, and pamper your pet to perfection
GOOD LUCK!!!
