Either professionally or in college? Which role(s)? I played Despina in Cosi fan Tutti and Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment. Both in college and it was a blast!

yes. In college I started out with the Madrigal chorus, and was no big fan of opera ( those big voices scared me) until the director of the opera studio pulled in everyone he could find for Les Huguenots. I got infected with the opera virus then, and I don't think I've ever recovered. Joined the opera studio myself the next year, and we did Magic Flute, Marriage of Figaro, Cosi, and La Boheme over the next four years. Turned out I had one of those big voices I was scared of....
I have been singing professionally for 25 years now. I sing in the opera chorus full time, and have done many comprimario roles as well.
Yes, singing is a blast! I wish everyone could learn to enjoy themselves as much as we have been able to. It is a great gift, and I for one, am grateful for it.
I have started up teaching ( that's fun too) and work with the kid's chorus in our theater as well. We might not have any future stars there, but we are getting these young people interested, and there's our future public.
I wish you great joy and keep on singing

I have only done one full-length opera. Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Gondoliers". I played Vittoria and understudied Tessa. I've done scenes from other operas, though. Dorabella in the Act 1 finale of "Cosi fan tutte", Meg Page in Act 1 Scene 2 of "Falstaff", & ensemble in the Act 2 Party Scene of "Die Fledermaus". As part of an educational outreach program through my opera company, I also perform "Una voce poco fa" from "The Barber of Seville" and as Cousin Hebe in "Now Give Three Cheers..." from "HMS Pinafore."

Yep....too many....
Highlights Violetta in La Traviata, Mimi in La Boheme......it's exhilarating but very tiring. I think that's because I'm probably 10 or so years older than you. Best to you. Keep living the dream.

Yes, I did leading lyric spinto soprano roles professionally after grad school... "Le Nozze di Figaro," "Aida," "La Traviata," "Porgy and Bess," "Il Trovatore"... etc.
