No, but it is fun to some because it is illegal. Also money is saved that can be used for other things--like fines if caught, buy otherwise sweets and drinks at pub.

what's a tube station?
Like the subway?
It's VERY socially incorrect to jump over the barriers (hence the BARRIERS!)
I do laugh when silly people try that and miss and fall flat on their butts or faces depending on the end that went over first.
I know I'm mean but come on ... I have to pay for my ticket just like everyone else. That's what is called just desserts.

Whatever has social correctness got to do with it? If you want to travel by tube and get from A to B, you pay for it. Why shouldn't you? What is this concern about trying to get as many things as possible for free? All services cost money, whether people like it or not. I once had a colleague who said that he never bought a train ticket unless he absolutely had to. I laid into him and he was surprised! He thought everyone was the same. But we're not.

Do you do it? If so explain your reasoning but don't expect the rest of the world to explain it for you. In other words no it is not.
It is stealing and passes the cost on to the other customers. Who by the way have had to already bare the cost of installing and maintaining the barrier/ticket machines pay the ticket inspecters, fund the close circuit television, etc etc, all to prevent people who are too selfish to pay themselves.

...and don't forget the Toilets at Waterloo Station-where they want to charge you 20p for a pee. Best technique: put hands on the tops of the silver machines at either side, then leapfrog over the turnstile: that way, your head stays at the normal height and hardly anyone will notice what you did, usually the few Japanese tourists who notice are too polite to say anything.
Transport Police-and the ticket guys at London Underground however, are a whole other story: I really wouldn't mess with them if I was you, better to pay the £1 single fare!!!(or has it gone up again?)

NO. Of course not. We all wait in lines and we all pay tolls. We all hate them. But they are part of life, jumping ahead or in front of others, and pole vaulting the barriers can be risky, you could hurt yourself and others just to save some change.
Find alternative transportation or pay your dues like every other person.

depends which culture and society u live in, if your society allows you to do it then go for it, but if there are laws in place whereby in you doing that you are stealing then it isnt correct. i have done it though, well not the jumping part but i didnt pay when i got the train a while ago
