I have absolutely no clue how to cook german sausage. I think you "boil" in in water on the stove, but I'm not sure how much water or how long. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you take a saute pan and add about 1/2 inch of water or beer then put in your sausage and put on the cover and simmer for about 10 min per sideadding more beer if neccesary.

I depends on what type of German sausage you are cooking. Germany has over 600 different sausages. Some are boiled, some are grilled, some are smoked, some are fried, some are sliced and eaten cold. So which of the 600 are trying to prepare?

ynotfehc is absolute right, there are a lot different sausages here in germany.
an original german weener you have to boil simply untill its hot (not cooking, maybe 5 minutes)
some german sausages are dried-salted.. DO NOT GRILL THEM.

my family likes to brown the sausage on the barbeque, then put the sausage in a big pot, cover in onion ring slices (about
3 whole onions , fist size), then fill pot with some good domestic beer, just above level of sausage & onions and simmer for 2 - 3 hours
serve on kaiser rolls with deli mustard......YUMMM!!!!

You can either grill or boil. If I boil it, I'll add cabbage five minutes or so before I call it done for a serious Slavic meal.
