That person for me is undoubtedly my father. He is a pastor of a United Methodist church in Mississippi. He's the kindest person that I know. I can come to him and talk to him about anything. I remember when he was on a retreat once as a leader. I was at home alone and he called just to check on me. A moment before he had called me my fiance walked out on me. We had been together for 4 years. He felt bad not only because someone had hurt me badly, but because he could not be there to comfort me. He immediately got to my mother and got her to come and make sure everything was okay. He sat listening to me in all my anger and my sadness when he came home. The first thing he did when he got home was hug me. The look in his face of the look of pure compassion. He had tears in his eyes. He hurts when I am hurting, and he takes my pain very seriously. He is like that with anyone.

When I was younger, I told him that I had gotten into a fist fight with someone. He saw the blood on my arm. He shook his head. Instead of getting angry and telling me that I was some awful person for doing something like that, he asked me what was wrong. He took me by the hand and told me that everything would be okay. I asked him why he didn't yell or get angry at me. He smiled and said to me, "My heavenly father treats us with grace. I am his child. He taught me to raise my children with that same grace. I try to do that the best of my ability."

No matter what has happened in my life, my father has been there for me. I love him dearly and I wouldn't trade anything for the all the riches in the world.

I wasn't going to answer this... but, Ace... watch Penn and Teller's Bullshit episode about "Holier-than-thou" It kind debunks the mother Teresa myth. Sorry. Not to be an ******.

St. Faustina, the first saint of the 21st century.

She showed what it is that modern people are so desperately missing in their lives - to feel forgiven.

Mother Teresa--she always did for others without seeking anything in return. She was a woman of few words--she let her actions speak for her.
