I would consider it a finger, but medically speaking it may sometimes not be considered a finger besause there are only two long bones (the medial and proximal phalange) and the other digits have three long bones (medial and proximal with a distal phalange.)
to the person who said that the third long bone connects to the wrist: each of the fingers has one of those too, I looked that one up, because I originally though the same thing.

People say you have 10 fingers and 10 toes, so I'd say, yes, the thumb is a finger.

The thumb actually has three bones like your other fingers.
The proximal bone of the thumb goes to your wrist.

Yes it's a finger, it goes by the name of an opposing thumb.

It isn't really considered a finger although medical people would call all of them digits. It's not considered a finger because it is shorter and only has two sections to it and all the rest have three.

well kinda...people do say you have 10 fingers.
but you don't really say your "thumb finger" like you do with your "index finger".
so i don't really know.
everybody tells me that your thumb isn't a finger.
but it's on my hand, so i guess i consider it a finger.
