Well, let's see. In this part of the world, there are about eight Christians for each atheist. (That's if the North American population is roughly fifteen percent atheist, a statistic which has yet to be proved.)

If two of the eight are of the fundie persuasion, that puts them out in front right at the git-go in terms of spreading hatred.

If two more are "values" types, that makes it four-to-one against the atheists; the "values" types may sound less hateful than the fundies, but that's only because they're trying to sound nicer. They're not fooling anybody.

If two more are liberal Christians, and if the final two are never seen in church except at Christmas and Easter, nevertheless these four subscribe to the _same_ scriptures as the other four, which technically makes them all equally hateful. (And you should see the long faces when I point this out to the liberal Christian types!)

Eight to one. Atheists couldn't live long enough to get anywhere near the Christian capacity for hate-spreading.

Wow! What a tough question. I’m a seeker and may need more clarification. Perhaps I do not know the exact definition of atheist. I always thought that an atheist was someone that did not believe in any deities. If I am wrong, I apologize. I mean no disrespect. If this is the case, then should not the question be, “Who spreads more hate: Atheists or Deity believers? I personally believe that bigoted, biased human beings spread hate. My new catch phrase is going to be “Why can’t we be friends?” What do you think?

Father K commented on this very thing about a day ago and I just have to share this. He said that he never gets hate mail from atheists. All of his hate mail comes from Muslims and Christians.

True Christians don't spread hate. Pretenders may but not true ones. I'm not sure what atheist spread other than ridicule to the believers, according to this site.

Well to be fair atheists have hardly been given a chance to spread hate. But I think atheists actually spread more love, because they have more invested in this life, so they would want to live in harmony more, and it would be easier for them too, since they are not trying to please a God.

A true Christian isn't allowed to hate:

"Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you."

"But he who has hate for his brother is in the dark, walking in the dark with no knowledge of where he is going, unable to see because of the dark."

If you don't follow Jesus teachings and you call him "lord" then you are fooling yourself.
"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who does what my Father in heaven wants."

So, the question should read:
Who do you think spreads more hate: atheists or false Christians?

The Bible teaches to be motivated out of law above all else. Even if Christians seem hateful and intolerant, some of that is just an illusion or them getting overzealous.

Atheists on the other hand are motivated out of priode more than anything else along with hatred itself so it is no surprise. But better to be seeking to please God and making mistakes rather than rejecting God and making the same mistakes.
