Im saving for a Fuji FinePix S6500 FD SLR Camera and I know many of the features but just wondered if its pre-set like main stream digital cameras or like most SLR's that you can customise shutter speed and apature?

The S6500fd has a full P A S M setup, and then some. So, it's easy to swith to manual, aperture priority, shutter speed priority or Program modes- as well as a few special ones.

almost all digi's can be manually set.
as far as i can tell (being a film man) the digi SLR's are now starting to 'catch up' with film SLR's with the options they offer.
many still keep the auto settings but can be configured manually, the fuji by the way is the model i would go for
