Absolutely!
My hubby said having a doula was the best decision we'd ever made with our first.

She can help explain risks and benefits and procedures and such to you. She can suggest ways for you to cope in labor. She can massage you or show hubby how to help. She can be with you so you're not alone if hubby needs to step out to call people/take a nap/get a bite to eat during a super long labor. She can be an advocate for you with the staff.

With our third, my doula could look at me from across the room and tell me what area of my body was tense and needed to be relaxed. She also took some amazing birth pictures for us.

Some hospitals will actually match you with a doula for FREE! Find out if your hospital has such a program!

Im a teen mom and I joined a program that paid for my doula and she was wonderful she helped me throughout my pregnency advising me on everything I needed to know and when I went into the hospital she was there for the whole time. While I was in labor she rubbed my feet helped with my breathing and was just very supportive. It was wonderful. I ended up having a c-section but it was still great having her there.
