Only bigoted morons normally make such statements. No one "stole" anything. Rainbows are used for a great number of purposes.

Too bad that some people cannot value diversity and the worth of each individual. God certainly does, since God loves all us.

Why did you steal it from us Asatru, now that's what I'd like to know. [And yes, my Deities do pre-date yours. Your god is a mere babe in the grand scheme of things] The rainbow in my religion has to do with Bifrost, the rainbow bridge that connects Midgard (Earth) and Asgard (the dwelling of the Gods). It is symbolic of the connection between Gods and humanity. It is the road to Asgard.

[Note: Not implying that the Old Norse were the only ones who the rainbow plays a part in their religion. There are MANY cultures that use the symbol. This is my point, Christians do NOT have a copyright on the symbol of the rainbow. It is a naturally occurring phenomenon in nature. No one 'owns' the symbol of the rainbow]

Personally, I love rainbows and would display the symbol for two reasons both as a symbol of my religion (Asatru) and my identity. (I'm Bisexual.) The Gay pride flag has a great deal of history behind it, each color represents something. It's really quite fascinating you ought to read up on it maybe you would learn a thing or too.

The bible is not the origin for the rainbow as a symbol... other cultures saw it as a symbol for thousands of years before your bible was ever conceived.

Nor can the bible claim any sort of exclusivity to it. Just like it can't claim to own the symbol of a flood, or a flaming bush, or a cross.

Rainbows exist in nature, have been around long before the bible, have been symbols long before the bible, and there likely is no biblical connection or causation behind the choice.

i did no longer comprehend that it grow to be ever a logo of the Covenant between guy & God. alongside with the gay community adopting it. i comprehend a vacuum cleanser organisation (referred to as Rainbow) used it. I additionally keep in mind a community group had it as did a baby care place and interior the 90s there grow to be an BBS that used it. So there we've a nil.5 dozen institutions that we can think of of that have used the rainbow as a representation photograph. i'm effective over the years many many others have performed a similar. All that leaves me asking why you're purely annoyed with one group for employing it and who the hell does this church think of it fairly is to be claiming it owns this variety of image. The gay community effective would not declare to have an unique suitable to it. i assume that only demonstrates the civilised behaviour of the gay community whilst in comparison with the religion part of city who think of they have a God given suitable to bully definitely everyone.

I have never heard of the rainbow being used a symbol in the Bible. Can you cite a verse for me?

And why do you put quotes around flags? They are flags, there is no doubt about it. They are pieces of fabric used to symbolize something, that's a flag to me.

Afraid that would be the other way around! Satan loves to pervert the things of God for his own means. The rainbow was a sign of God's promise to never destroy the earth with a flood again. It's in Genesis.

Because the rainbow is not copyrighted, and because the colors symbolize the diversity of the community. Perhaps you can learn to accept diversity, too.

Considering that a rainbow is a naturally occurring, scientifically proved phenomena I would say it's fair game. I fail to see the Trademark Rights from the christian right wing on it.

i always thought the rainbow was a symbol of multiculturalism, diversity and acceptance of differences...

i don't think that the bible can claim to have a monopoly on such things.
