If your body is used to working out 80 min. a day then go ahead but if you are going from the couch to 80 min. you might be asking for trouble you will be so sore and tired that you will miss days. As a first timer I would start with 20 min. a day and add 5-10 min per week until goal is met. Also if you are lifting weights for the first 3-4 weeks you may not lose the poundage, your body will be converting fat to muscle. But if you stick with your program you will be happy with the results.

Sounds like your on the right track. I am assuming that the 80 minutes includes weights and cardio.
2-3 plds per week is a good range.
Remember to change your routine every 6 weeks or so to shake things up or your body will be used to the exercises and they won't be as effective.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh now? How much would you like to lose? One to two pounds per week is a realistic goal. You might lose more or you might lose less from week to week. So don't get dicouraged. You shouldn't omit entire food groups from your diet for long periods of time. Make sure you're taking a multi vitamin because you're not getting proper nutrition since you are omitting fruits, veggies and grains from your diet.
