First is the CD that comes with all new computers a whole copy of Windows XP? or just something in case your hard drive fails? Second if it is a whole copy, can I install it if I already had another dude put on a Windows Professional copy on my hard drive back when it was new. Im just trying to get rid of the annoying counterfitting message microsoft got going on now.

The CD you get with your computer will contain the necessary operating system components to get your hardware running. This will include the operating system itself, and 3rd party drivers for hardware not supported by the operating system natively.

You usually get an "OEM" license to use Microsoft Windows. This allows you to run the operating system solely on the single computer that you purchased. If the machine dies then so does your license.

yes, but you cant use an OEM disc on another computer.

Youd have to purchase a new copy of XP it should be getting cheaper becuase of shitsta (vista)

Or you can get a bootleg copy :P for free.

When you install it, it will show current partitions on the hard drive. All you do is hit the d key on all of them to delete them and then create a new NTFS partition for the whole size of the hard drive. It is all easuily understandable when your doing it. There are plenty of sites exaplining this if you google it.

You can install it this way: 1st put your cd in, 2nd Restart, 3rd while your pc is booting up preass the space bar on your keyboard (press the space bar not while windows is loading, b4 windows starts to load), 4th Follow the instructions on how to format ur hard-drive (this is important), 5th after the formating is done the installation should begin, follow the instructions provided, 6th install the drivers that needs to be installed (you can ask for drivers and utilities cd from your manufacturer), 7th install important software forst e.g. anti virus, then install anything else you want, 8th Enjoy!

The disk you got with your computer is probably just a restore disk, so as long as you don't mind losing everything on your C: drive, you can use it to restore your computer back to the way it was when it shipped to you. If it is indeed only a restore disk, then this is the only legal way to save your computer. The product key on the side of your computer will probably only work with the version that came with it.
