It's a little bit of a hike, but have you considered Cambria? It's absolutely lovely and definitely do-able for a quick getaway. There are a number of nice bed & breakfasts, but on my last visit, I rented the house below. It was absolutely amazing. If you can do without room service - totally romantic.
You cannot really tell from the photos, but there is a jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom that overlooks the ocean and a big spa tub in the back yard that has a clear roof overhead for stargazing while touching toes with your new hubby.
If you can't get as far away as Cambria (3-4 hours north of L.A.), try Santa Barbara for a change of pace from Catalina. Lots of nice restaurants, it's very walkable and again has many nice B&Bs.
Congratulations and best to you!

Last year my fiancee and I went to Laguna Beach for a weekend getaway. We live btw NYC and Beverly Hills. It's less than an hour drive but it's so different from LA. We stayed at Surf and Sand Resort; the rooms are chic but simple, the spa is great and so is the view. The restaurant has delicious food and is really romantic. We barely left the resort and definitely plan to go back!
Congrats and good luck!

If you don't mind a bit of a drive, try Big Sur. I've always wanted to stay in one of these little rustic cottages with woodburning fireplaces, but haven't had a chance thus far. This place is extremely charming:

I agree that Cambria is a nice get-away spot, too. Another one of these places I would love to visit again one day (we live in San Diego).

Do you usually go to the mountains in San Diego? My husband and I spent our mini honeymoon at this wonderful little B&B in Julian called Rainbow Hill. It's absolutely goregous & unique in its design. There's stained glass everywhere! The people that run it are amazing too.

i live in vegas and my husband and i had a 'mini' honeymoon before our 2 year anniversary (we never got a honeymoon the first time) and we went to the RED ROCK here... it was beautiful.. the pools were awesome.. the dining was fantastic! i would definitely want to go there again for a romantic stay.. it's 11 miles off the strip so you can go there if you like.. or just enjoy each other w/out so many people around... check it out here: http://www.redrocklasvegas.com/hotel/

That happened to me too, I end up in Catalina it was really quite but nothing to do. Las Vegas in a good Idea more fun w/ all those show they have, or you might want to try Big Bear Mountains they have really nice cabins up there.

Santa Barbara is pretty, so are Monterey and Big Sur. Slightly farther away is my all time personal favorite romantic spot- San Francicso! Have fun!

Las Vegas? I know the first thing most ppl think of is shotgun weddings when it comes to Vegas, but they actually have some beautiful hotels and lots of honeymoon activities.
