Ah well, now we're talking! For me, it has to be Connemara in County Galway and Inishowen in County Donegal. Beautiful, natural, unspoilt places where a man can slow down and remember what it is like to be human.

Cork is good, but Kerry will always be the Kingdom! Being from Kerry, I get used to the startling beauty, so my fav place in Ireland is Kilmore Quay in Wexford.

And the name Éire is only the name of Ireland in Irish. If you want to be correct say the Republic, not Southern Ireland!

Generally when referring to Ireland in english, only english people call Ireland Éire. Irish people only use the word Éire when we speak Irish.

To me it's a tiny village called Garryvoe.
It lies across from the town of Ballycotton on the South coast east of Cork City.
Ballycotton bay is a nearly semicircular bay with sand and gravel on the Garyvoe side and steep cliffs on the Ballycotton side.
There are a few tiny islands, and you can walk all around the bay.
About halfway there is a brackwater lake with all kinds of birds, on the long gravel banks you can watch the small creatures of the sea.

I did the coast mainly, first thought is Ring of Kerry and the pass that leads to Dingle, and Dingle peninsula. Also approaching Galway from north, a valley with lots of lakes. And Dunguire (spelt wrong probably) Castle.

Slieve Leige (think that's how you spell it!)in Donegal - highest cliff faces in the world apparently. Really beautiful, really amazing and a death defying drive around the mountains to get there too!

(BTW it's the Republic of Ireland, rather than Southern Ireland. Tomato, tomayto.)

:)

Definately Dublin. The people are very friendly, the atmosphere in any pub there is great and the city is beautiful.

Ring of Kerry? Steady on, Cymru man! Cork is heaven - next door to Kerry - but anywhere far from Dublin is fine!
