A DVT usually develops in a deep vein in the leg but it can occur elsewhere, such as the arm. Deep veins pass through the centre of the leg and are surrounded by the muscles.
A DVT (Deep Vein Throbosis) is different to blood clots that form in a separate set of veins (called superficial veins) that lie under the skin. These clots are called superficial thrombophlebitis and are much less serious.
In most cases of DVT, the clots are small and do not cause any symptoms. The body is able to gradually break down the clot and there are no long-term effects.
Larger clots may partially or totally block the blood flow in the vein and cause symptoms such as:
swelling of the calf - this is usually different from the mild ankle swelling that many people get during long haul flights for example
pain in the calf
calf pain that is noticeable, or worse when standing or walking
These are not always a sign of a DVT, but if you experience them, you should go and see your Doctor.
Have a look at the web site below for more info.

Like your first answer, pain and swellling, sometimes your leg below the clot will turn blue, depending on where the clot is. If you suspect this, go and see your doctor immediately.....as this can be potentially dangerous. Best of luck to you.

There are none in most people, blood clots in legs can migrate to the lungs once there you are dead. if you are worried I would go tothe Doctor and ask for a Doppler DVT scan to be performed. that will rule out any thrombosus in the legs.

numbness, tingling, or very bad cramping.
If you think you have a clot, take some aspirin (blood thinner) and call your doctor.
A blood clot can be VERY serious!!!
