I asked if anyone had any information about the artist A W Ross. (I bought a painting on London's Piccadilly in 1978 bearing this artist's signature). One single response came to the effect that it could be anyone with that name (unlikely I would have thought given the odds of two people sharing the same initials, surname, profession and place of business). But anyway, was that you voting for yourself Charlie3?!!!!!!!!!

Nice one PhillipL, and don't worry , you'll get my vote unless the answer I'm really looking for comes along.

it might have been me, if I see one answer and it's not a stupid answer but an attempt to help at least, then I give the vote...

sorry if that burnt your bacon ...

I'm going to vote for myself if this is the only answer :)

You do understand, don't you, that paintings bought on the street from street vendors are and remain utterly obscure more than 99.999% of the time? If you like the painting, enjoy it. If you don't, you're out of luck.
