1. Character is what matters in mankind, and if everything reverts to self-preservation in the end, well what use is that person to the rest of mankind? How different is that person from the rest of the plants and animals in the world?
2. Friends are personal investments of trust and emotion and time. When they betray us, it is much harder to forgive, than when the betrayal is by someone we don't really know or are not really invested in.
3. Same as #2 above, the world is always viewed through our own biases, such as when we let friends slide because we're afraid to question our own judgments by calling out a 'friend' for something they did wrong. We tend to view the world in the paradigm which offers the most comfort and sense to our often imperfect and fragile minds.
4. Victory easily achieved is not something long treasured. It is much sweeter to reach a goal when the journey to the goal is wrought with difficulty, danger and challenge. Otherwise, victories would be cheap, easy and forgettable, and would mean little to our evolution as people.

1. A man who won't die for something is not fit to live.
A man who won't die for something is bound to be very selfish and only wishes to save his own skin. This society needs people more focused on others.
2. It's harder to forgive a friend than an enemy.
It's very true! A friend is someone you give your trust to. If that trust is broken, it's very hard to forgive them (though you eventually must) but it's harder to trust them again, and it injures how much trust you put in new friends. Both I and my best friend have serious trust issues and have just started to trust eachother. If I betrayed him or him me, it would be very hard for either of us to trust eachother or others. Enemies you already don't trust, so you don't see anything new when they stab you in the bad or lie.
3.We never see things as they are, only as we are.
The way we see things is highly based off of the way we are. A lover of nature will see a forest as a beautiful haven to get away to when they're feeling lonely and an encounter with an animal a cherished one-of-a-kind experience. A kid who loves his video games will see a forest as a bug and critter infested bog that's too bright and will see an encounter with an animal as a terrifying experience making him never want to go into nature again.
4. The lesson is in the struggle, not the victory.
Too true, just like the journey is more important than the destination. Its during the struggle or the journey that you grow and become stronger.
Hope my interpretations are interesting! ^^ There are alot of wisdom in those quotes.

When you are faced with a situation, you do not learn from the victory of the situation... you do however learn within the process of getting that victory. Example: Most people take their lives for granted. Individuals do not appreciate each second in which they are given. It isn't til death when they realized that they wanted more out of their lives or they wished they could have said something to someone or did something for anyone. That is their lesson, realizing that life had more to offer to them. Every thing you do within life is a lesson whether you realize it or not. Each moment it a lesson, its just up to you to realize what that lesson is. No one can truly answer what lesson you were suppose to learn from which event that has taken place, only you can. Open your heart and eyes to new things.

4 is the best. I think that its saying that if u always get what you want in life, you cant learn. But if you struggle to get through something, than maybe your learning every second of the way things like, you dont always get wat u want. And u r learning from your mistakes as an added bonus. This doesn;t mean u should fail on purpose, but that its not so bad to.

1)if you arent willing to sacrifice to gain something greater you dont want it that bad.
2)friends are supposed to be trusted. break that trust and it may never be mended. enemies are expected to deceive.
3)this is easy. its narcissism. not seeing the bigger picture.
4)a no pain no gain type of statement. you appreciate something more when you work for it and its not given to you.
