Not a lot of people are against Christianity; if you hadn't noticed it's the most popular religion in the world. But the people who are have many different reasons. 1. They think you're stupid and naive for believing ultimately what someone else tells you to believe. 2. It's no worse than what your religion, or the Muslims, or Pagans, or even (to a lesser extent) the Jews have done to people who don't believe what they believe. Regardless of religion, some people are just stupid that way. 3. Thinking practically, some people believe that by believing that God created the Earth, you close your eyes to other explanations, which could hinder the advancement of the human race.
On the flip side, spirituality provides a sense of security, somewhere to belong, like an extended family. They also have no right to tell you what to believe, which is a good thing about free countries. Some of the greatest art and literature have been written/made about religion; it's a major chunk of human history. Some people just don't accept this. It's like racism, in a way.....

2 for the price of one!
Theists, especially christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views. If all christians stop crusading against science, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.
---
Pascal's wager:
"If god exists, it's infinitely better to believe, since you get heaven instead of hell for eternity. If he doesn't, it doesn't matter since you're dead anyway. So overall it's better to believe"
This is, of course, false.
Some of the problems with the argument:
* The implied assumption that god may exist (with a 50% probability, no less!)
* The assumption that there is an afterlife with a heaven and hell
* The assumption that the god cares about belief in him/her above all else
* The assumption that if you believe in a god, it will definitely be the same god that actually exists.
* The assumption that you lose nothing if it's false. You have lost a great deal, from time praying to a nonexistent entity (somebody mentioned just today praying several hours a day!!!) to morality (your god may ask you to hurt other people) and much more besides.
* The assumption that people can believe in something simply because it benefits them. Would you believe goblins exist for twenty bucks? Why not?
* The assumption that any god won't see through the "believing just to get into heaven" ploy.

Don't be misled It takes more than just believing in God to get his reward. People are against Christianity because they have been lied to far too long, by other people that say they have the right way?To be sure a person needs to keep testing to see what the right way is? Meaning for example that, if you are told that you have an immortal soul. Do you believe you do? or do you test this by what God's word says? See Ezekiel 18:4, Ecclesiastes 9;5,10,
To make sure that you do not loose out you should use The word of God as all authority, that's what you should relay on.

thats a poor reason to believe in god
why dont you believe in the tooth fairy too
if she doesnt exist, then nothing bad can happen
and if you believe in her and she does exist
you get money under your pillow
i dont think anyone minds you believing in god
it just when people think theyre right and they other people
are wrong
and the other people are going to burn in hell
and letting someone or some book do all your thinking for you
lots of people believe in god other than christians
jesus didnt invent religion
it irritates me so many people
believe that the bible and jesus are the only right way
and they usually have never learned about other religions
i myself find buddhism, hinduism, taoism fascinating
looked up pascal's wager on wikipedia
some of the flaws of this argument:
1. assumes god rewards belief
2. assumes christianity is the only religion that
makes such a claim
3. does not constitute a true belief
4. assumes one can choose belief
5. measure theory
6. assumes rewards and punishments are infinite

Because of so much false Hell and Sin teachings.
We are not sinful being that have fallen from grace. We are perfect souls extending from God himself. Our actions have not effect on our true being.
Everyone came from God, and everyone will go back to him.
Christians tend to think if you don't stand in their building and say their prayers you will go to hell.
Does that really make sense to you? He loves us ALL unconditionally.
There is no Devil that is attacking us. If the term "devil" meant evil being, why Did Jesus call Paul "Satan?" It means stumbling block, not an entity.
Many have a problem with the JUDGMENT in the Catholic church. God Said "JUDGE NOT, lest you be judged."
You, yourself are the only one to judge your behaviors at the end of your life.
God's love is totally unconditional.

Because they like their sin.
What they do not realize is that apart from sin, life is more beautiful than ever!
They must come to acknowledge the seriousness of sin, before they can repent---to hear the gospel (Romans 10:17) and the Holy Spirit must convict them and draw them to repentence.
Many will refuse to believe because they want other things--they want what they want--and it all comes down to PRIDE.
They need to be humbled, and only God can do that! So continue sharing the gospel with others, for God leads many to Him each day.
Also see Romans 1:25 it is a good verse on why many will not accept the truth.
"God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble" James 4:6

This is Pascal's Wager...it's an old joke here because there's no way to know which God might be up there.
There's nothing wrong in believing in God and I'm not against that. It's ignorance, hypocrisy and coercion I am opposed to.

I do believe in God, just not your perception of God. This is why I'm so against Christianity. Because you guys have a "My way or the Hell-way" mentality and it gets old quick.
