Wait a week. It may clear up.
I had a .38 revolver go off about a foot from my ear once, inside a car (my friend accidentally fired, put a hole in the headliner and a pimple on my roof; I was very emphatically P.O.d at him for a while). Maybe I lost some hearing permanently, but I don't notice it now. It was very bad for about four days and then began to clear up.

It sounds like you may have ruptured your eardrum. Hopefully, it will heal soon. You will need to see a doctor to find out if any lasting damage has been done to your hearing. You might hear ringing in your ear for a while. If it turns out that you have damaged your hearing, you will learn to compensate. You might have to wear a hearing aid. It's not a big deal. I've been wearing them since I was 12 or so and I lost a lot of my hearing because of an infection. It doesn't slow me down at all.
A word to the wise...loud noises can cause permanent damage. Everytime I see someone in their car with the stereo turned up to an ear-splitting level, I want to tell them to turn it down. You should always wear hearing protection in places where loud noises are common...concerts, shooting ranges, industrial areas and the like. You can find ear plugs or hearing guards at drug stores, medical supply stores or sporting good stores (especially one where guns are sold).

Try using a drop of warm oil in your ear, preferrably a good garlic/mullien ear oil from a health foods store. Or try mineral oil. and please don't get into that situation again!

Hopefully your permanent hearing won't be affected. See your doctor.
