its more prctical to take spanish as you live in californa and it is a useful laguage. But french is easier to learn and even though a lot of the world speaks it, most of the us speaks englsh and spanish.

i took french in high school as an "easy A" class b/c i had a lot of AP courses. I wish i had taken spanish b/c then i would have 3 langues under my belt. But yes take spanish in high school you can take french in college if you still interested.

its fun when you do un into french speakng pl from haiti or african countries of france or canada. They are very impressed to meet an american that speaks french. lol

ps suli is basically sayng to take french b/c its better that spanish (its stupid she says) she thinks it the best language in the world and also she was asking if you spoke french (parelez vous francais)

It really depends on what you want to use it for and your own personal interests.

I take French because my school doesn't have Latin and many delinquents/slackers that I hate dealing with take Spanish/are less likely to take French. As mean as that sounds, I am not interested in taking a class where other students will disrupt my learning experience by making me lose focus because they don't care about the class.

If you want to pursue a career regarding languages, Spanish is probably the better language to learn, but there are a lot of French speakers as well, since it is the 10th most spoken language in the world. It is spoken in Canada, France, Belgium, countries in Western Africa, and countries in North Africa. So there are also a lot of opportunities out there for French speakers.

I also learned French because I wanted a language I could speak with to my friends about stuff I didn't want anyone else to know or for fun. A lot of people speak Spanish in my school, so Spanish wasn't a viable option for that.

And I don't think French is as hard as everyone is saying, as I've never gotten anything under an A. But I am a language person, maybe you are too. French really isn't so tough.

P.S. Pronunciation isn't so hard either =D.

I live in California also and I decided to take French. I fell in love with the language. At my school, spanish is harder for students than french is. But living in California, it could be a plus to take spanish because it's basically the 2nd universal language here! good luck choosing!

French, then learn Italian after. I speak Italian, Spanish, and French, and to me, Italian is the best, then comes French. But since you want to learn Spanish or French, I advise French because it is spoken in more countries then Spanish. Next you should def. learn Italian.

I think that you will find that Spanish is more practical, and considering the changing face of people in the US, will benefit you more on a day to day basis. Frankly, though, i love the way the French speak, and wish more of the world(including our country) spoke it.

Spanish...at least if you're from the U.S. So many more people speak Spanish in the states than French and it can really look great on future job resumes and give you that extra edge.

Spanish would be more practical since there are tons of Spanish speaking people in America. Also, most companies now will ask for bilingual workers so they can communicate with all types of people in the community, depending on where you live.
