. If you continue to insist I believe in Jesus, it is only fair I may ask of you to show just how strong your faith is. After all, you would be my “mentor” in Christ. I’m not a believer as of yet, but surely you are. Would you mind perhaps resurrecting a dead relative or walking on water?

Okay, obviously you didn’t do number 1and backed out with the “this is metaphorical” excuse. Surely you can try Mark 16:17-1 8 which says believers can drink “any deadly thing” and “it shall not hurt” them. But I don’t think you would be naive enough to drink any arsenic offered. Perhaps I’m wrong and you would be willing to test the Book’s veracity-”lay it on the line” so to speak?

All right, so now you have backed out of two of my questions. I’m starting to think you don’t really care about my salvation as much as you claim. Well, unlike your Jehovah, I shall be kind and offer a third chance at redemption. Consider Jesus’ teaching in Luke 6:30 “Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.” Perhaps, if you emptied your wallet and “give of thee” I may seriously ponder accepting Jesus as my savior.

I want the water into wine demo.

It's not just John, in Matthew 18:19 Jesus himself promises that if any two christians ask god for something in prayer then it would be given to them. There is no "god's will" or "mysterious ways" in the biblical promises. It you are a christian, you can perform miracles on demand. Either that or the bible is false and even the very words of Jesus are lies.

And for those who say it has to be for good and/or for the good of christ, offer your services to the Salvation Army or Meals on Wheels and feed 5000 of the homeless or the infirm with the leftovers from your lunch.

And for those here who claim that John was only directed at the disciples/apostles, the Matthew quote is immediately followed by the famous "where two or three are gathered . . . there am I." Either Jesus meant both to apply to all believers or Jesus no longer shows up at gatherings of christians.

You are free to believe in whatever religion or philosophy you like - UK and US are free countries.

Everything in christian life depends on faith, love and hope. Faith in Jesus is where it all begins for the christian. Till you grow in faith it isn't possible to do the healing deeds of Jesus. Most of us believers don't climb to those dizzy and glorious heights. Some people think the greater deeds means salvations, since they were not possible till Jesus rose from the dead. But many miracles have been done by the church through history.

You can read and find out about these things. For some great miracles read about the UK preacher Smith Wigglesworth - he rose the dead on several occasions as well doing many many miracles. Also look at John G Lake. Also healing evangelists like Gordon Lindsey just after World War 2 in USA. Or someone like currently US-domiciled Nigerian Charles Ndifon. Kathryn Kuhlmann in 1970s. Frances MacNutt (catholics), Agnes Sandford. The 'happy Hunters'. Bill Prankard. Also investigate guys like Randy Clarke and Todd Bentley. Heidi and Roland Baker - missionaries to Mozambique - and their pastors have done many miracles through Jesus' name in the last 5 years. Steve Hogan in Mexico. Reinhard Bonnke. Colin Urquart.

You for sure are familiar with the Bible... so permit me refer you to 2 Timothy 2: 23 - 26. Are you attempting to understand or are you attempting to %. an arguement??? you're searching for a demonstration of ability from God, once you have given him no longer something... so assuming he replaced into keen to offer this demonstration, what reason could he have??? just to electrify you... or me... or all of us else??? i'm no longer even gonna ask you to confess which you have self belief the Bible... in spite of if this is clean which you be attentive to this is a particular threat... yet you refuse to attitude it with an open ideas and embody the non secular message... instead attempting to the actual and textile area... i'm specific you have study the miracle the place Jesus fed quite a few thousand with merely some loaves of bread and a couple of fish... and while there replaced into not greater nutrition... they left... they have been merely drawn to what he ought to provide them for his or her bodies... So he grew to become to his chosen 12 disciples and asked in the event that they have been going to go away too... and that they replied with "the place could we pass??? you have the words of eternal life" So, my chum, what precisely is it which you're after??? Are you merely a rabble-rouser or are you extremely searching for eternal life??? i'm hoping this is the latter, by way of fact i've got truly enjoyed your questions to date.

The priesthood authority and power is that of God's literal power in the hands of his children. Those that are using it for just purposes wont be using it just to show off their power. Even those that have seen miracles still dont believe. Faith and belief in God have nothing to do with walking on water or drinking poison and living. If you have faith AND it is in the plan of God and his purpose, then you can live thru anything and raise the dead. Just giving anyone that kind of power over anything or anyone without some kind of limitations or justifications would not be very smart.

Jesus was speaking to one of his disciples...I only wish I had even one of the works that Jesus was capable of.

Joh 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.
Joh 14:13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
Joh 14:14 if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
Joh 14:15 "If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

I. Great power on earth (Joh_14:12): He that believeth on me (as I know you do), the works that I do shall he do also. This does not weaken the argument Christ had taken from his works, to prove himself one with the Father (that others should do as great works), but rather strengthens it; for the miracles which the apostles wrought were wrought in his name, and by faith in him; and this magnifies his power more than any thing, that he not only wrought miracles himself, but gave power to others to do so too. - Matthew Henry Commentary

Jesus was simply talking about the spreading of the Gospel and the influence which this would come to enjoy, we can say that Jesus' prophecy was absolutely and totally fulfilled!! When Jesus uttered those words, there were probably fewer than 15 believers in the Christ in this world and, indeed, even their faith would not be fully established until that momentous Pentecost!
Then on that very Pentecost, 3,000 souls were added to the Church (Acts 2:41). In the fourth century Christianity would become the official religion of the Roman Empire! We now know that millions have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Yes, assuredly, there have always been 'nominal Christians' yet even accounting for this fact there are undoubtedly many millions of the human race of all ages and eras who are members of the eternal Church of God of all time. So whereas at the time that Jesus walked this earth, the Holy Spirit was active only within His life (until that first Pentecost), the Holy Spirit is probably now actively involved within the lives of thousands of Christians on this earth at this very moment!
So we begin to see that Jesus was almost certainly referring to the growth of influence of the Christian Gospel and the affect which this would have. Lets just remind ourselves of the Great Commission which was delivered to the Church;
"...All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth" (Please notice that this authority was given to Jesus. But what would be one of the stunning results of this?)"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am wih you always, even to the end of the age. Amen"
(Matthew 28:18-20) Checking the whole context of John 14 only confirms what we are beginning to see. The chapter powerfully 'majors' on the divine Trinity. Much is said about the relationship between Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the chapter. Jesus continually stresses that He only speaks His Father's words, and then stresses the need for the Holy Spirit to empower believers. But what about the 'works' which Jesus refers to in verse 12 which His followers could expect to be very successful in accomplishing? Do we ever get a clue as to precisely which 'works' are meant? Yes, we do!! Verse 10 ties up these 'works' with Jesus' words and deeds;
"Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works" The overall sense here is that it is Jesus' revelation of who He was, as revealed in the words which He spoke, which are the particular 'works' which are being discussed. There is not a hint anywhere here that Jesus was discussing either healings from various sicknesses, or miracles in general!

The Lord predicted that those who believed in Him would perform miracles like He did, and even greater works. In the book of Acts, we read of the apostles performing miracles of bodily healing, similar to those of the Savior. But we also read of greater miracles-such as conversion of three thousand on the day of Pentecost. Doubtless it was to the world-wide proclamation of the gospel, the salvation of so many souls, and the building of the church that the Lord referred to by the expression greater works. It is greater to save sould than to heal bodies. When the Lord returned to heaven, He was glorified, and the Holy Spirit was sent to earth. It was through the Spirit's power that the apostles performed these greater miracles.

So you see, I can't make you do or believe anything. God has to work on your heart. I can help you along the way, but the longing has to come from you.

we do things in Christ. Why would God give you the power to work miracles if it didn't benefit the body of Christ? so if I'm tired of going over a bridge, do you really think God'll make me walk on water? it serves no purpose.

the dead in sin cannot be raised, and not all who have died in Christ need be raised.

if God works a miracle through me, I'll let you know....

Mark 16. 17-18. They have already tried it! Google for "serpent/snake handler Christians". This cult also drinks strychnine !!!! Only in America! Lazarus was NEVER "dead" in the literal sense, but was "dead" in his beliefs until the "miracle" brought him to " life". A common cultic practice of the time.
