I was standing and waiting for some food to cook when all of a sudden my lower back right in the middle, began to hurt really badly. I'm sitting down with my legs out on the reclining chair and I'm still in alot of pain. I wasn't really doing anything with my back, it just suddenly came onto me.

This is probably a muscle spasm. They often come on very suddenly for no apparent reason. you might want to apply ice to the area to numb the pain . do this frequently for the next day. If the pain is still unbearable I would recommend you see a chiropractor as they can help you get relief very quickly.

You probably just moved the wrong way which caused some pain. I would actually sit straight up rather then in a recliner because when your actually sitting in that position you are actually flattening your lower back which is going to put more pressure in the lower back area. Sit in a chair with your hips and butt as far back and roll up a towel and put that at the small of the back so that it pushes it forward. That will take off some pressure there and make sure you ice to decrease the inflammation. Ice 2-3 x per day with 15-20 min sessions. NO HEAT....heat causes an increase in inflammation because it increases blood flow. Only use heat with muscle soreness. GOOD LUCK

Sounds like muscle spasm. Try ice for today see if it helps. You can do heat after 24 hours.

i have had that happen before, only i coudn't move. my sis said she thought it was a slipped disk but i doubt it cause it went away in a couple hours. maybe you pinched a nerve or it's muscular. if it doesent ease up soon call the doc.
