How much would duty be on a puppy bought in Canada?

I will be travelling to Canada next week to pick up a puppy worth $1500 US. I will be there for 5 days then returning with him. Everything is in order except how much will I have to pay in duty?

There is no duty on livestock.

Get a receipt stating you paid $100.00 - that will take care of any duty problems.

if you keep your mouth shut about buying the puppy you will be fine
