According to my psychology classes, there isn't really a "precentage" put on it. It varies from person to person.

Despite this, I (and one of my professors) would venture a guess at around 50/50. Although certain things are going to happen regardless of your upbringing (certain likes and dislikes, possible diseases, etc.), you can have things like emotional stability greatly affected by upbringing.

On a slightly different note, did you read the study about the twins who grew up apart, and when they met, they found that they had identical landscaping, wives with the same name, children with the same names, etc? How strange!

Actually liberals will blame environment but that's different from learning. Most of science still goes with the nurture end of things. For the most part behavior is learned whether it be good, bad or indifferent. We aren't born knowing to be considerate or a jack ***...we generally learn that from somewhere thats why leading by example has proven to have such an impact on people. That's not to say there is no genetic predisposition for anything because there is but it is somewhat limited. Just think about what you have become as a person...for the most part, were you born that way or can you, if you analyze it carefully point to some way you learned that behavior?..Great question though.

I'm sure a lot of scientists are just dying to know that answer... Unfortunately, we haven't figured it out yet. There are too many theories to list here and support for them, but basically we still have no clue.

Liberals will say it's 90% environment or learned.
