The stinky is more of a dedicated trail/freeride bike. You could use it for downhill but it is a lot better at the other two. the big hit is more of a downhill/freeride bike. Not great on trails but great for DH stuff. If you see yourself going more trail ridding get the stinky or the stinky deelux. If you see more downhill in your future, go big hit.

They both have their weakness' and strengths.
Kona: Dual Crown Fork, 170mm, Nice maxxis tires, price.
Specialized: Single Crown fork...however 10 extramm front suspension...better drivetrain compenents...not sure about the tires, but specialized tires are iffy.
If you want a bike to really handle stuff go with the Specialized. I think you'll be happy with both. The kona has a dual crown fork though, and that makes the bike look cool, haha, just playin.
If you want more of an opinon go to BikeForums.net and ask in the MTB section.

Kona are much better as there welding is much more up to scratch. But it also depends what you will be doing. Will you really use either of those bikes to thier full potential? _-_-_

Specialized. Got a better MBR rating. Also, I am not keen on Kona.
