My hair stylist tells me that my hair is very healthy and grow very fast. This are a couple rules I follow:
1. I use a shampoo and conditional but always separately. Never 2-in-1 or anything like that.
2. I use shampoo and conditioner that contain honey of any kind.
3. Never use a hair dryer!!! If you have to use it - never on HOT!!! I actually do not even remember when I last used it.
4. ! swim twice a week but never cover my hair with a swimming cup.
5. Trim a little bit off once in 8-10 weeks.
6. This is homemade: during spring time I collect birch leaves (I use 1 cup of fresh leaves per 0.5 gallon of water). I rinse my hair with it and it makes my hair kind of shiny and pump it with vitamins.
7. I braid my hair before I go to bed and use a piece of cotton to secure the braids.
Good luck, and hope it helps.

I am trying to grow mine out too. I have fine hair but lods of it. If you wash every day you should expect it to get greasy very quickly as washing strips the oils off. Having said that... a good conditioner is necessary too. Other than that, nope washing does not damage hair. Oh and this is for natural hair.. if it is dyed etc. yes washing will make it worse so will sunlight. It will get drier. Make sure you get a trim every 3m or so.

Washing your hair can NEVER ruin it! Especially if you use the right shampoos! I hear there are a lot of good ones for strengthening and growing!

Use: Pureology shampoo and conditioner. It's a little pricey but it does wonders!
Best thing to do:
-Shampoo your hair once or twice a week (shampoo your whole head) then of course use a conditioner after.
-Condition your hair everyday (you can just use your conditioner without the shampoo-you're moisturizing your hair extra) - You leave the good oils in your hair
-And when conditioning, DO NOT condition the top of your head just shampoo it. Condition the bottom and the middle part of your head.
It works. I do these and my hair is not course. Hope this helps.

if youre trying to get your hair to grow it is best to wash it only once or twice a week..if you do it every day it strips your hair of the natural oils that it needs to grow

Try not to wash it everyday, every other day is fine. Plus use deep conditioner (Pantene ProV is really good) at least once a week. Try using something that helps growth or increases shine. Thats what I did and mine's grown out ALOT.

No, you need to wash your hair. I'm trying to get mine to grow long too, right now its past my shoulders and I want it to be waist length. Sigh.

instead of washing your hair like every week, wash it evey two weeks... and use some organic root stimulator... like the tea tree oil.. they say it's only for culry hair but it actually works with other types of hair also... but don't use too much your scalp will get itchy if you sweat alot...

you shouldnt wash it every day because it takes away all the nutrients in it. try every other day. but if you fell the need to wash it just rinse with water and use conditioner
