My son was diagnosed with that when he was three months old and weighed 8 pounds. He had done the back arching turn purple hold my breathe till my lips turn blue since the day he was born. They skipped around to several different formulas then finally to a GI. He's almost two now and fat, happy, & healthy but still has to take Zantac twice a day. He was on Alimentum formula and had to have cereal in his bottle to kind of like "weigh it down" in his stomach and on pepcid, then prevacid for the first year. The gas drops and propping him up so that he wasn't laying flat always helped too- A wedge under his sheet, or the baby swing reclined. His stomach always got real hard (and still does) so i knew when he was going to hurt and i always tried to get the drops in him before he could start, but not always caught it in time. Sometimes nothing helps but you just rock and pat and soothe them until the hardest has passed.
I've just started using this stuff called colic ease gripe water a few weeks ago instead of the gas drops for the in betweens and it seems to work great.

Yup, sounds like reflux........call your doctor and demand that they consider reflux as a diagnosis....I did not have t demand it, my daughter had it with NO doubt. But some docs are hesitant to treat it.
My baby was diagnosed at 5 weeks. she was put on a special ready-to-feed formula (Enfamil AR) and strong medication and the screaming stopped and she did well. I could not lay her flat for 30 minutes after eating and she still spit up sometimes, but she was overall great.
she just got very very sick this week, as she outgrew her dose of Prevacid. since she has silent reflux (she was a screamer, not a puker.....because she did not throw up she had what is called "silent reflux" but there was NOTHING silent about it), so by the time she started screaming at night, the damage was done (she is 11 months). we rushed her in to see her doc and they doubled her dose. But the damage is so bad she is on steroids and has croup (not viral croup, the symptom croup) and is being treated for that too. she was pretty miserable for a while.
Reflux is NOT to be taken lightly........please call your doc and see what they can do for him........

A friend of mine , her son use to do the same thing and the Dr. Had to change the formula and give him some sort of baby reflux medicine. Take him to the Dr. and tell them the problem in detail and hopefully they will give him some relief. In the meantime after he is fed make sure that he is well burped and after you burp him continue to rub/pat his back for a while longer because there maybe extra air in his tummy you want to try to relieve as much as possible.Good luck to you.

My 4 year old daughter had acid reflux as a baby. Of course they told us at first it was colic, but the poor baby had acid reflux after 4 months. She took liquid zantax with her bottle and it helped alot, after about 8 months we slowly weaned her off it. Today you would never know.
Good luck!

Sounds more like colic. Might want to watcgh what you eat and burp the baby alot. Its the gas that makes the baby in pain. Burping helps alot.

yeah. my daughter used to have it.. shes 2 1/2 months..
make sure you burp him more often... and let him take his time while eating and not getting like really into it... and anxious.. because that will cause them to vomit.. so get him calmed down before feeding.. like do it when hes sleeping. i do that sometimes with my daughter
